The NHL Thread, 2012/2013 season

"In return, the Sharks get a pair of second-round picks (2013 and 2014). The second pick in 2014 is based on Pittsburgh winning two playoff rounds or re-signing Murray. If neither occurs, the Sharks get a third round pick in 2014."

I don't like this very much because of the placement Pens end up every year and could get a third round even.

I've already told my family if Boyle is traded I'm not watching another game this year. I will be SO PISSED, but now that Crankshaft is gone I don't see them moving Boyle.

Although you never know...

Excellent trade by DW. Murray's a pending UFA and there was no way the Sharks were going to resign him. Clear 2.5M cap space and 2 picks in return. Murray is a shadow of his former self.

Having said that, he's got a big heart for the game and his team; it's no accident he's a fan favorite. I'll miss watching the Murray Smash

Murrays cool until you realize all the runs he always takes at people result in odd man rushes and goals. I don't have a problem with this trade at all.

I see where you guys are coming from. I saw the UFA after I posted which made sense to me with the trade.

Now if they trade Boyle... I'll kick DW in the balls. Does anyone think Boyle will really be traded?

I would say mixed emotions depending what assets we get in return. Boyle is definitely our best defenseman and his TOI speaks volume to that. Our PP is also a day and night difference when he's QBing and not. He also brings intangibles such as leadership and game-winning mentality.

But, again, having said all that, he's 36 years old, has 6.7M cap hit, and one year left on his contract.

You can make arguments for both sides. I think it really depends what direction the team is heading.

Rangers won last night keeping them in the playoff picture for now. Happy about that. Hope the good offensive output continues. Some tough opponents coming up.

Stoked about tonight's game between the Bruins and Canadien's. This is gonna be fun!

Good job Sharks on grinding out a valuable 2 points. :thumbup

Man...when I saw Datsyuk break Logan's ankles I was like :wow and then :cry I knew that was going to break front page. Moves like this further exemplify why Datsyuk is my favorite player outside of the Sharks organization
