The Official 2012 NFL Thread

Bengals need a new offensive line. Sure, Dalton sucked with a 44 QB rating but much of that is because the O-line can't block anybody so he doesn't have time to throw. Texans were on him all game.

I wouldn't blame their offensive ineffectiveness on the Oline. They blocked well enough for Green Ellis, who didn't get enough carries. Gresham the tight end dropped two catchable passes and wasn't beating the defenseman who covered him. Dalton under threw an open Green on one play, and over three him on another, that one would have been a Td. Dalton sucked today, and so did the play calling. To win, I thought they would all have to play really well. They didn't.

Only 6 pts, not so bad. Dalton did look pretty bad, but the Texans' D is good. And they were likely VERY fired up after choking away that first-round bye that seemed like a done deal a month ago. :laughing

Indy receivers got the dropsies. Killed them.

OKAY GUYS, SEATTLE/WASHINGTON DRINKING GAME:

Any time you hear "Rookie of the Year" or "Future of the NFL" you have to drink.

Sadly sound was all I could get until I rolled outside, got on the damn roof, and moved the TV antenna further up the mast to clear the Hooverville going up next door.

That knee fold was cringe worthy.
I know. I felt like pukin. Really surprised to see him up and about afterwards. Musta been the shot. Its too bad that it happened but dammit, there are other rookees around who deserve some spotlight and Wilson is one of them. Buck even admitted that gee, we sportscasters have put a lot of attention on Griffin.

No shit, sherlock. I almost fell out of my chair at his sudden self-examination on air. All of those a-holes have RGIII'ed me to death, to the point that I feel bad that I resent him a bit and want others to win. Sorry at injury tho.

Seahawks seem to be on one those rolls similar to the Giants and Packers in their championship years....

They are the 49ers of last year I think.

As far as Russel Wilson and his running around like a wild turkey. Why not be a defensive back and go for a big hit not matter his dumb late slide. So what if you get 15 yard penalty. Maybe you hurt him, knock him around a bit and make him think twice about scrambling.

Thoughts? I just really hate how its impossible to tackle. They slide at the last second and the defender is supposed to be able to stop himself instantly?? Screw that! Hit him hard early in the game, take the penalty and go from there. There's a reason these college offenses dont last in the NFL.

Do you think such actions would go without retaliation? Take a cheap shot at a team's QB and you can expect other teams to take cheap shots at your QB.

Besides RW's ability to scramble and avoid the sack, he has also showed his ability to pass. He had 26 TD's in the regular season which tied the rooking QB record set by Peyton Manning. He also had a QB rating of about 100 which is pretty respectable. Give the guy some credit for what he has accomplished. :rolleyes

I like Seattle's chances against the Falcons. The Redskins were the team that worried me most and now they are behind us. If Seattle can put up over 200 yards rushing against the best rushing defense in the league, they should be able to control the ground game in Atlanta, and open up the pass.

Thoughts?.

My thoughts are: enforce it equally and quit using it as a way for the refs/league to control the outcome.

in the Cincinnati game, Green got demolished in the end zone from a helmet-to-helmet hit right to his chin in the 4th quarter...no flag. That should have been a 15 yarder, 1st down, and likely a score for the lead. Instead, no penalty. Then the Bengals defense go on the field PISSED, then went out and hit a WR (Walter I think) the same way, and lo and behold: a flag comes out! sustains the drive, and helps them win the game.

where's the consistency with this call? it's not there. If it's not enforced equally, then it's a tool for the league to control the outcomes.

for the record, Cincy still could (should?) have won the game if Dalton would have put the ball in AJ's hands instead of overthrow him on their final drive. But at that point, it was clear who the league wanted to win.

Yep. There's no rhyme or reason to defenseless receiver calls.

Or a QB being in the grasp.

They used to call it all the time. Now I think I only saw it called once this weekend. It should have been called at least 3 times against Luck.

.

Love the passive agressive roll eyes :laughing

As for credit...eh. He's not an accurate QB. Ive read that and Matt Millen even mentioned it this morning on the radio. He scrambles and the defense breaks down.

I'm not saying to take him on purpose but go after him and not be hesitant. Hitting him hard will prevent some scrambling. Look what happen to RGIII. As for retaliation, part of the game. Niners run a different offense and will be fine.

and Webb. Barely in the grasp!
