The Official 2012 NFL Thread

It's a combination of things. Justin Smith getting hurt and becoming ineffective meant little to no pressure on the QB, and given enough time any QB will torch a secondary.

That doesn't mean that there aren't issues with the secondary though. Both Goldson and Whitner are hit first, cover second guys. There needs to be a guy that attacks the ball and not just tries to decleat people.

Yes, but even if you look at last year when Smith was healthy, the Niners could still not stop anybody's passing game. They were absolutely shredded by the Saints, and New York Football Giants' WR Cruz ripped'em in the next game.

Niners would have a lot less drama if they could improve the secondary, it's their only glaring weakness that will hopefully be improved in the offseason. Draft is only 2 months away!

Revis is not a good fit in SF for the $$ he's asking. His new ACL hasnt been tested and he wants top defensive player money which is $12+ mil a year....pass.

If Revis used the same knee doc as Adrian Peterson....sign him! :p

He only makes 6M this year. That's not the issue. The issue is that he wants an extension that will pay him like the top defensive player in the NFL, which means something like 15-16m per year.

There's no way SF will give up draft picks to get him and sign him to a huge deal as well. Practically every move the team is making has been geared toward a sustained period of winning. They've been building the team through the draft and supplementing with FAs when needed without signing them to huge deals. Rogers, Whitner, Manningham, Moss, etc.

Plus, Kaepernick and Aldon Smith will need to get paid after next year, they're not going to chew up a ton of salary cap space by giving a huge contract to a free agent.

Just get him out of the AFC East, please. :laughing

:facepalm Surprised it took you that long to start it again :laughing

I usually try to give the reigning champs at least a couple of weeks to enjoy it, but apparently we don't have too many Ravens fans around here. :laughing

This year the combine didn't bring much activity, but as we're rolling into free agency it seemed to be about time. We didn't have nearly as much draft talk in February as last time around.
