The Official 2012 NFL Thread

fucking horrible article.

go Raiders.

Dude. It's been 27 years since the Fins even made it to the Super Bowl. After that they hosted the AFC title game in Miami twice and choked horribly both times even with the home field advantage. I'd like to see the Fins step up finally. :p

Everyone except Eldritch is allowed to read this story about the agony of rooting for a team that doesn't win. :laughing

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/26/magazine/why-does-anyone-root-for-incompetent-failing-teams.html

If you go back to the NFL threads when I first joined BARF in 2004, I was predicting Superbowl for The Giants, who had been terrible for a couple of years and continued to be terrible for most of a couple more. :laughing

Most of the 90's were a DISASTER for us after L.T. retired, I think we had 2 winning seasons in that 10 year span. It was nice to begin and end the decade with Superbowl appearances, but we were pretty rotten in between, all the while watching the fucking Cowgirls and Redskins take it all...

Buy hey, at least the Fucking Eagles will NEVER win a Superbowl. Thank You Raiders, Thank You Patriots, you'll always have a special place in my heart. :teeth

Pfft, from memory, I'm the only one that called the Vikes/Saints NFC game. In the correct year, even.

:laughing

I remember a Giants vs Cowboys game somewhere in the '90's that upset the bald coach with glasses (Handley?) so much he was almost weeping in the post-game press conference. "WE DIDN'T PUNT THE WHOLE GAME. HOW CAN YOU LOSE WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN PUNT?" :laughing

It's like wanting to be with a girl that is completely wrong for you, treats you like crap, and constantly breaks your heart, but you keep coming back for more because the head can't tell the heart what to feel....

(That writer did forget that the Raiders made the Super Bowl the following year after BRADY FUMBLED!!!!, then spiraled down....)

You sure he forgot, or blanked it out as one of the Raiders faithful?

Since one of their starting offensive lineman went on a bender to Mexico right before the game, and their QB threw 3 TD passes to the wrong team, I'd say he blanked it out. :p

Let's not delve too much into our respective teams' Super Bowl failures, it may reopen wounds that will take twice as long to heal....:laughing

2002 was a solid year, and hey, the one good thing JaCarcass Russell did was play a decent enough game against Tampa Bay to get Gruden fired!

Like when Redskins' RB John Riggins obviously fumbled and Miami recovered but NOOOOO the crooked zebras missed the call completely which cost the Fins a Super Bowl? Not that I'm bitter. :laughing

Where are my Seahawks fans in this thread?

Interesting turn of events, yet another team starting a rookie QB. Guess that guy Flynn wasn't worth all those millions after all? And to think a bunch of Miami fans wanted the GM's head because Flynn chose the Seahawks over the Dolphins....and then the guy can't even win the starting job vs a rookie!
