The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

I wonder who I am going to cheer for when the Raiders leave.

Not going to pretend I was ever a Seahawks fan even though I grew up in the PNW. Didn't watch NFL until I moved down here.

They are. They're down to 3 spots to build a stadium now. Howard Terminal (no), Laney College (maybe), or the current site after the Dubs and Raiders are gone (IMO best option)

Yeah, all the other teams abandoned the East Bay and the League shut down their efforts to try and move to San Jose, so with the market theirs and theirs alone and the only easy exit shut down by MLB, it made more sense to find a way to stick.

I hope the A's get a sweet waterfront (or close to) site near other businesses, one that can rival Phonebook. They deserve it. Pipe dream, I know.

I could see the NFL losing total relevancy (but still be a desired brand) over the next decade with all their wishy-washy team/city swapping. smacks of greed and is destructive to fan loyalty. if they have a labor stoppage again it'll be devastating to their business

as a Niner fan i could root for the Raiders when they played teams other than SF, and would watch their games. i couldn't be paid to give a shit about a Las Vegas team

glad to see Vance land in a good spot. i hope he doesn't drop the ball with his new opportunity there :teeth

that makes Celek, Kittle, and Bell the Niners TE's for the season?

Baseball still, but waterfront/howard terminal is the least likely spot.

It's the worst for public transportation, there are still a couple working businesses that would need to move, and on top of that there is a ton of toxic cleanup that needs to be done before any construction could begin.

yeah, pipe dream. but as a long term fixture in Oakland it's the best vision for the city

"The Autumn wind is a RAIDER...."

Followed'em to LA, but the Coliseum sucked, so when they move LV I'll do what I do now, watch them on a big ol' hi-def TV at home. :dunno

I did find some old pics it took from a Denver/Raiders game back in 1983, Elways first (of many) touchdown against them as a rookie, you can even see Howie and #58, Jack Squirek, the LB that had the Pick-6 against Theisman in the Super Bowl, and another of the team as they ran past after a close win.

Meh, they don't do it that much, mainly just for franchises that are either underperforming or in a shit town. Detroit would get up and walk away 20 years ago if it wasn't owned by a Ford, LOL.

#1 Dallas Cowboys $4.2 B
#2 New England Patriots $3.4 B
#3 New York Giants $3.1 B
#4 San Francisco 49ers $3 B
#5 Washington Redskins $2.95 B
#6 Los Angeles Rams $2.9 B
#7 New York Jets $2.75 B
#8 Chicago Bears $2.7 B
#9 Houston Texans $2.6 B
#10 Philadelphia Eagles $some crap, doesn't matter.

If you look at the 10 most valuable teams in the NFL, pretty much all of them have stayed in the same metro area with the exception of the Rams and the Pats. I mean, sure, the Skins moved from Boston back in 1937, c'mon, and the Niners left their Metro area and aren't a San Francisco team anymore, but they stayed close enough where they figured they could still swindle the SF logo and the history of the franchise while becoming a San Jose team to make more money in a bigger market. Seriously like NO ONE not from NorCal knows the difference.

With the Pats, they were seriously a laughing stock before they moved to Foxborough, so their valuation is pretty much the Brady era come to life and weren't hurt much by the move they did.

With the Rams, all they did was move back to their original home into a vastly larger market, I cannot see this doing anything more than excite the NFL's revenue streams and increase value on the team. If they can actually build a winning franchise, they may come out more money than Big Blue in a few years.

The whole constant Town Swap greedy fan betrayal thing is mainly just The Raider Way. :teeth

my pipe dream is that the a's move their sorry asses to tennessee :party
Odd...I don't think it was worth it unless the staff believes the 9ers will end up in a higher position than Pitt for the draft. I don't see that as likely.
it was worth it just for getting rid of that shitty albatross of a contract that numbskull baalke signed him to at the end of last season

Watch him turn into a pro bowler as Big Bens new security blanket and best blocking TE they've had since Miller.

seems more like a Bob Irsay thing really...but hey if you're going to do something, may as well be the best at it! lol

one can also argue that to other states, California is not north and south either...it's just one giant gay liberal cesspool.

srsly, the Raiders have never had their own stadium built for them. i can see why they are leaving. And honestly I'd rather see them in Vegas and have some fun afterwards in the town, then in Oakland then want to just gtfo of there.

I only feel bad for the die-hard blue-collar fans who are getting fucked over emotionally and financially (lost PSLs) that have given a lot of their hard-earned money to go see the team. those who bleed silver and black even in their checkbook.
