The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

Ahh, remember the good old days back in like, 2 hours ago, when the Niners used to have an exciting young defensive rookie to talk about?

Yeah, welcome to the NFL.

Member when Carolina had this exciting new RB out of Stanford who was supposed to be the spark their offense needed?

you mean right around the same time CAR started moving the ball? : |

Yup, that time. Foster just had a rotator cuff too. I think he is made of fiberglass. Probably will not last. I have seen him before. Guy plays like a beast with a lot of heart, but has a body that just can't keep up with his intentions.

Hey he's the 2nd best RB playing there today

For all that's good, it's the same kind of misfortune. The defense is gassed because of conversion rate. Overthrows, whatever. At least nobody holding the chains got hit. But same sense of smothering futility. Hope it gets better.

conflating Hoyer's effectiveness with Kaepernicks

even though they're both in different situations the end result is much the same : |

Yeah. I just wanted to be the first to call him that. I mean, I knew we were going into the season with a guy whose bounced around the league for a reason. I am trying to convince myself its worth comin back to watchin Niners after starting to just hate the frickin sport thanks to Jeddie Bear and Baalke etc etc etc.

My biggest thrill today was watching McCaffrey. He did finally get stripped, which I would suspect would happen sooner with those grown men. But good for him! The announcers said he wasn't havin the great of a day, but considering it wasn't college, I think he had a great day and his threat just eventually starting neutralizing the Niner defense.

The Niners couldn't capitalize on a rusty Newton. It doesn't seem like it will get better. Hyde is back to bein Frank Gore mini-me until he gets hurt.

At least the Raiders were entertaining, i.e. competitive. Love the new kicker. Talk about steppin up on cue. I used to have my doubts about Crabtree but I think it was the aforementioned bummerball that made him look undependable.

Huge difference: play calling is completely different and more effective. Now if only we had the players to execute. And it wasn't Hoyer letting the team down. The left guard is a sieve and Goodwin has 4.2 speed with 5.0 hands.

Not at all. If you want to write them off by all means do so. I doubt it's going to get much better in terms of outcome. It was not entertaining at all for nearly 3 quarters and before that the 1st game nervous energy carried it as much as anything else.

The Yorks still own the team and it's the same guy ultimately in charge.

I don't expect much to change until that changes...

Oh, damn, for a second there I thought you were gonna say, "...dynamic young receiver that salsa danced like crazy when he made those long TD receptions?"

Nope, he's done... even got cut by the Bears. Next stop, Dancing With the Stars.

Remember when the NY Giants had that dynamic young receiver that makes crazy one handed catches?

Yeah, their names are Sterling Sheppard and Evan Ingram. ;)

Vic had such a good story man, I was really hoping he would make it, but his body just couldn't hold out. Still, he got his millions, he got a Superbowl Ring, he isn't brain damaged. Damn fine showing for an undrafted nobody.
