The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

Poor Alex. What a horrible place to end a career.

Not if he wins a Superbowl with Denver. The Niners would have been a slam dunk for Cousins until the Jimmy G deal.

Now I just don't understand what Washigton's problem with dude is. He doesn't seem to be a personality problem, he is a clear performer. dafuq?

They completely fucked up his negotiation. It's actually impressive how badly they managed it.

For sure, but like, over a couple of years of franchise tag, you would think they would just find a way to pay him as a franchise guy. He has never seemed to stay for a payday, but they would rather trade him?

For real though, if Cleveland signs Kirk and drafts Barkley, and Gordon doesn't get suspended, they will actually have a semblance of an offense and a reasonable defense too.

Is the deal with the Skins coming unraveled?

JimmyG > Cousins don't @ Me

100% agreement.
Maybe we’re talking about different things? I thought Smith had been traded to the Skins? They’re a horrible team primarily because they have a horrible owner. This is a bad move on Alex’s part in my estimation. Is the deal unraveling?

No he signed a 4 year extension 23M per year 70M guaranteed. He's in Washington for 5 years, his career will end there.

In further "LOL WASHINGTON" news, they didn't even fucking tell Kendall Fuller he was traded for Smith. Dude found out on Twitter.

It was really quite comical how anybody ever considered Yorks the worst owners in the NFL. Nobody holds a fucking candle to Snyder.

Well what the hell is Eldy going on about then? What does Denver have to do with Smith going to the Skins?

I think he was talking about Cousins going to Denver.

IDK if they could make the $ work though, they'd have to unload a huge contract or 2 that would seriously hurt the defense.

Baker Mayfield yo. The Broncos coaching staff are coaching/coached Mayfield's senior bowl team so they can get a good look at him, along with a few other potential QBs in the 2018 draft. He would be cheaper than Cousins, and Elway can have yet another shot at drafting Manning's replacement (as a Broncos fan I am well aware of Elway's 0 fer 3 record on Manning replacements...Oz, Siemian, and Lynch).

Coco and Bowling, I am afraid one or both of you are right. We’ll see what circus becomes of Denver’s ongoing QB debacle.

Danver offered KC a 2nd rounder + Aqib Talib for Smith, but would only offer Smith a 2-3 year deal

Why would KC give up a decent QB to a division rival, one that is a QB away from dominating the AFC West, again. That’s one of the unspoken rules, don’t make anyone in your division better than you.

i dunno man i think their D is getting a little old, maybe on the backside of their window for a sb. inking Smith to big money would make them have to choose to let some vets go i think. maybe that's over thinking it though

you're prob right, Denver is one good QB away from deep playoffs. same as JAX

He's 33 and they save $17M next season.

They have Mahomes ready to step in and start.

They got Kendall Fuller back, who is a REALLY good CB still on his rookie draft contract.

They also got a 3rd round pick.

That's an absolute HAUL for Smith.

I not saying that KC did poorly. I’m saying you don’t enrich your immediate competition.

Well, as his Coaches, maybe they know something we don't? I have long been a Smith supporter, always said he got a raw deal in SF, but he has never been a super star type. At his age, you figure he will probably decline quickly.
