The Retire and Relocate Thread™

It always surprises me when I find out an adult can't swim. I get that its a privilege to have access to a pool or swim lessons or even a body of water to learn to swim in.

True fact: When my relatives graduated PSU in the 70's, being able to swim was still a requirement. My google foo indicates that some Universities still have the requirement.

I love things that help prepare young people for life. It's time well spent. I dunno about making it a requirement to graduate though lol.

The fun stuff here in Verde Valley, brought to you from,

I find most everything is settled in to the landscape, but new stuff is being built on upper hillsides sticking out for the view.
THE best of the garish, The Asylum, top of Jerome, lit up at night.
Used to be the hospital, and asylum, now a restaurant.

The tourist season is getting started, after the heat and monsoon of June, July, August.
Marketing has established specific dates for everything weather wise, to capture the tourist $$
Weather, does what it does without co-ordinating with marketing

My wife couldn’t swim and was terrified of deep water. My brothers wife was also terrified of being in the water. They both took a course by a woman whose name is Melon Dash. They both overcame their fear of water and became avid swimmers. My wife even swam in the Aegean sea when we visited Greece. And she snorkeled in Hawaii. I was so proud of her.

Yeah, Sedona has much better scenery, but as far as the actual town is concerned, Cottonwood all day long for me.

Heck, if Clarkdale's little Main Street would take off it'd be a better town than Sedona.

I know it's pretty worthless, but just dropping a random pin in street view....

We're settling in to our new digs - left San Jose behind and landed in Lewisburg, TN. Sold a 1000 sq ft house on a 5000 sq ft lot and bought a 1660 sq ft house on 5 acres for about 1/2 what we sold the SJ home for. Lewisburg (population 12K) is about 10 miles south of us, and Chapel Hill (population 2K) is about 3 miles north of us. We're enjoying this lifestyle!

Spirit Room? Major Lingo?
Old Town Cottonwood is fine, the outlying area where my SIL was not.

Can't really walk, bicycle anywhere and need to use a car.

But it did have a nice view of Jerome.

Spirit Room, have seen Major Lingo, my faves Cadillac Angels, Combo Deluxe, new, Naughty Bits.
Have you ever heard the Hendrix version of the Star Spangled Banner?
Played solo with a bass ??? Done here.
Outside the bar, music break, stories of studio musicians, back in SF, back in late 60's
This struck me deeply, flower power, my past, here live, from those who created it, , ,

I have a bicycle, if needed, I can go almost everywhere on the mini, except 89 A to Sedona.
Locals are running more e-bikes, helps with rolling hills.

Love doing the roundy dance, need to build one for 89 A & Mingus/Cornville Rd. People fly thru there.
Cottonwood is more rounded as to services, Camp Verde doesn't have much for retail. Sedona can plug up bad trying to run Oak Creek. Clarkdale needs a new direction. The size and scope of what is here is doable friendly for me.
