There is absolutely Nothing to admire about pimps

Lots of folks also have that association. The positive argument for pimps, madames, et al is that they do provide services that many sex workers want in exchange for their cut: safety, security, client screening and access, bail, grease to the police, et cetera.

The woman in Climber's article is an example; she chose to work for one pimp then jumped to another when she didn't like the first's style. She was clearly looking for something.

Don't forget the MOST IMPORTANT Service they get in the relationship ACCESS TO NARCOTICS.

I like their sneakers.

So, legalization?
Legalization still leaves the government in control whereas decriminalization does not.

If we legalize and regulate in the name of public safety we should do so for both buyers and sellers as we do for firearms.

I associate pimping with exploitation 100% of the time. I'm sure you know what "mileage on a hoe" means. even a madame in a brothel is exploiting the work and body of another so I struggle to see a positive argument for pimping.

That said, I do believe that selling sex should not be illegal, even if its a tightrope walk to do it ethically.
I just asked about "mileage on a hoe." I was told it refers to a worker who doesn't take care of herself anymore, like does too much meth, doesn't shower, over/under eats, etc. In other words those who impact their marketability to the detriment of themselves and therefore to him.

I learned something this morning.

I learned the term from Dave Chappelles stand up set where he talked about Iceberg Slim and how cold the pimp game really is. According to Slim/Chappelle "milage on a hoe" refers to how many tricks a girl can turn before she looses her mind. A girl with high mileage would be as you described. A good pimp can call that number on first sight. I think this is the book Dave referenced.

What a sickening concept.

The part of the brain responsible for compassion must be broken in pimps. I’d be surprised if most of them weren’t sexually abused themselves.

Hate to tell ya but if ya see Dave's set it gets worse. Dave used the story as a way to describe things that happen in show business as well. If ya think the definition was bad, the story of how Iceberg got more mileage out of his bottom bitch is even worse.

:rofl. Nobody needs a pimp for that and you know it!

(Aaahh, you got me Eldritch!)

The guy I talked to cuts them free after a warning or two (he "ain't gonna have embarassments on his crew"). Others move on of their own accord "no fuss." He believes he has access to an infinite labor pool. He may be correct.

In my experience corporate officers have the exact same malady. What's the difference?

Would he let his bottom girl go that easy? Apparently they are pretty important to the organization. The story goes Slim fucked up and didn't have another girl in line to replace his bottom so he pulled some serious mind games to get her to stay.

I honestly think he'd cut problematic workers loose. No shortage of replacements where he works.

I have no doubt that others are less choosy, though.

I can't address Slim. I ordered the book and will touch back.

Do you have a link to the Chappelle bit? I'd like to see what was real and what.might have been editing.

You are wrong. I've been to Amsterdam yes.

There are plenty of pimps and lots of sex trafficking going on, don't even need to go far to figure that one out.

So you're telling me that the country doesn't take care of their sex workers and they aren't taken care of?

That's not what I saw when I was there for a month. Also took the tour which handed out the laws and regulations on everything. Saw lots of people shaming anyone messing with the workers.

I'm shocked that wasn't your experience. I'm also shocked that you think the pimps are in control since it's illegal for that over there with very stiff penalties because of the industry already set up by the country. The red light district is a very regulated area of Amsterdam and they don't fuck around at all over there.

Care to clarify your view? I mean I'm sure there are pimps but you make it sound like that is the norm over there.

Idunno, I'm sure there are parts of the business in Holland that's on the up and up, but I'm also sure there's an underbelly.

I spent a good amount of time in Belgium where prostitution is similarly decriminalized, but there was a strong presence of sketchy street prostitution and pimps were all over certain areas on Brussels. It wasn't pretty.
