Vegan climbs Mount Everest to prove they aren't weak..

I assume that you mean, "how many." I honestly didn't mean to make my statement so absolute. I meant to point out the tendencies of vegans to push their agenda more than most groups with other dietary guidelines. I actually know quite a few vegans and a lot of vegetarians. The vegetarians I know tend to be a lot less concerned with what everyone else eats than the vegans. I have never once had a vegetarian try to "convert" me, whereas I have had numerous vegans attempt to shame me for eating meat/dairy/etc.

Again, my statement was poorly worded and the intent was to communicate tendencies, rather than absolutes. Apologies for that. I still stand by the message, though.

Yes, meant "many."

I also know quite a few vegans and veggies, and my experience isn't the same. The vegans I know are embarrassed by their preachy, militant "colleagues." Do my vegan friends (and longtime girlfriend) generally detest the meat industry, industry lobbying, treatment of animals? Absolutely.

Assuming your experience is the more common, I guess I can perhaps understand why vegans are more militant/extreme (since their lifestyle choice is itself more "extreme" than being vegetarian). I agree with you as far as dislike of preachiness (from any group).

It may be that LB hangs out with assholes. Not that I went riding with him a couple of weeks ago or anything.

:laughing

I thought about JOKINGLY saying something like "maybe it's the company you keep."

I've never seen or heard of vegetarians protesting meat _____ (restaurants, manufacturers, farmers etc) but I have seen vegans

To play devils advocate, factory farming conditions are pretty horrific. I've seen a beef packing plant first hand, it is brutal.

Not everybody wants to partake and speak out against such practices after witnessing something like that. I can live with it though.

Hey, LB, we hanging out this weekend?

Mebbe. I have a pretty busy weekend, though. Friends in town from New York, doing some brewing, doing some wrenching. Hit me up in PW if you want to chat about it. :)

You were saying that you were surrounded by assholes, soooo... :p

A while back I was walking by Neiman Marcus in the city when large group of animal lovers were screaming obcenities at passerby. It was my day off and I had nothing to do, so I went to MD and got two Big Macs and was standing in front of them enjoying my lunch.
