VW "Clean" Diesel not really clean

thanks for keeping us updated. i was really hoping for a buy back and cash in the pocket (this month), but looks like it'll have to wait another couple months

It is actually 5100 to 10k on top of Sept 2015 clean bluebook for buyback. Gen 1 cars unlikely to be fixable, Gen 2 get a cash payment and free fix and free extended warranty.

My 2013 with 55k miles can be bought back for $24,287. I paid 28.5 otd in Oct 2012. Not bad.

Go to tdi forum emissions subforum for best info. There is a locked post with step by step how to calculate buyback value.
Vw will have it up on their site in a few weeks.

Not a bad deal for diesel owners IMO.

I wonder what VW will do with all the cars they buy back.

Damn!! You have the wagon? If so I'll be nearly the same. I'm at 56k miles. I do need to find a driver passenger door lock cap (the piece your left thumb hit when you open the door). Mine was loose and the girlfriend forgot and it's not somewhere in Tahoe.

Sell them in China. Seriously, they will probably gear up a huge effort to recycle the materials.

I got the email for 5001-10k plus blue book before September as well. I'm just curious how they're gonna calculate the value. Mileage now or mileage then? I have 36k on my 2012 golf

Goto the tdiforum as I said above, there is a simple calculation and how to figure mileage in.
Mileage factor can add or subtract from price, from memory...
Mileage at buyback - (# of months from buyback to Sept 2015 x 1000ish miles)

My car broke down the day after it went public. Hpfp so exact mileage is recorded at the dealership and in my records to the day

I didn't see the mileage part. It mentioned it but didn't show an equation. I'm at 55k and probably do 1k a month.

hmm, i've got an -09 with about 100k. haven't driven it in a year probably. Can't wait for the payout.

well...it looks like I may be moving to the East Coast for residency, plus we just got our 2004 golf (gas not diesel) running, so my 2013 TDI Wagon can go away, and I can just ride my moto for commuting instead.

even IF I stay in the bay, I'll be working in SF or San Mateo, so definitely will just commute by moto.

Hopefully that cash can go into buying a house, now!
(I'll probably just save it though)

don't need 2 cars and a moto for 2 people.

I will miss Klaus the sportwagen, though. I've never loved a car quite as much as this one, and I've had a few pretty neat cars.
