VW "Clean" Diesel not really clean

What we want, what we think they will, and what they should offer will all be different.

If they don't come out with a good figure, then they are setting themselves up for more lawsuits as many owners will chose to stay in the class action suit.

Mid wholesale is the expectation for any sale as it's "instant cash" at that price, depending on demand.

What i was thinking as well. I do wish you luck Dubbs, keep us posted. Shitty thing to have to deal with.

Well fuck that then- I'll just keep polluting the earth.

Maybe I can find out how to make it roll coal!:laughing

Also don't forget that EV's aren't good if the primary source for creating the electricity comes from coal power plants.

No, the EV is still zero emission, but obviously the grid is not. There are no coal plants in California, but we do get some energy from coal. Yet coal is being phased out because natural gas an renewables are cleaner and cost less.

Even today, plugging a EV into the grid anywhere in the country still produces less green house gasses than the average internal combustion engine car "well to wheels". That is because EVs are just more efficient. Don't forget the emissions upstream of the gas station. There is a great graphic of this in the Model 3 thread.

A person in my family group wants to get a TDI that's been sitting on the lot for over a year now, waiting for the fix. Brand new car, year old, bad stigma, so he's hoping to swoop in for a good deal. Who knows what incentives VW will kick down to their dealer network to get rid of that deadwood.

I wonder if there will be a stipulation that bought back cars get crushed or if VW will be able to flip them to a country that doesn't care about emissions.

that would be the best outcome for all. VW limits the financial damage and those countries have access to relatively cheap modern cars.
even if they produce more NOX its still better than their 2 Stroke engines and Donkey carriges

They will probably equip them with whatever fix they're gonna do and resell them here

Vw is not allowed to sell any until this is settled and the new cars are fixed. Then it may be deal time

A friend bought one right before VW goy caught with their pants down. They gave him the Visa gift card, but in his mind it does not get anywhere near enough. He wants them to buy the car back at full value so he can move on to another brand. I don't know what VW was thinking. I understand this could be a one billion dollar mistake. You have to sell a lot of cars to create one billion dollars in bottom line profit.

They're estimating the buy back to be 7 billion just for the US plus another 18billion in fines but it's unlikely the fines will be that high

smoking guns will be found all over the place. It is a matter of how high up the executive tree they find them.
not that it matters to the car owners, it will just be interesting to see if any high decision makers get charged directly.

Looks like they should have had those emails on a server in a bathroom...somewhere.
