Walking Dead-Season 2

i dunno...

we may see a sudden rise of dead in-laws , past or present, if a zombie apocalypse broke out...

just sayin....:toothless

all this discussion about morality and humanity makes me want to put this here. i hope this may be new to some of you or encourages those familiar with it to give it a shot. i give you about 20 minutes in to the first episode to find the character analogous to Shane :rofl

Survivors (2008, BBC)

it's available on Netflix (i posted it in the Netflix recommendation thread).

it has a lot of the same elements of character interaction that TWD does. unfortunately it only lasted 2 seasons. i think it's worth a watch while you/we wait for season 3 of TWD. :nerd

I'm halfway through the 2nd season of that one. I like it. I like the fact that it has Abby-- I can't remember the last time I've seen anything, show or movie, with a strong female character of her type in it. (it's also nice to see the obnoxious American character from Jekyll talking in his normal accent and acting like a normal person)

I actually was reminded a bit more of The Stand. In the 2nd season though the show goes in some directions that are pretty original. Good stuff.

I believe the writer of the comic/show has acknowledged that zombies don't exist in the world he created. No romero movies, the word is not in the urban dictionary, etc

I still can't get over the fact that their entire arsenal can fit in one convenient sack. I saw a few shotguns, one or two rifles, a few handguns, and a crossbow. Why don't they have an arsenal of assault rifles and machine guns and some heavy duty military vehicles?

But that series has been cancelled and ends in a cliffhanger.:(

Because the people, much like the whole show now, are extremely stupid.

also, when Rick first grabbed all those guns and put them into one big duffel bag, i don't remember how many rifles, etc. he picked up. but it seems like he picked up enough that it really wouldn't've been as easy for him to carry those around as they made it seem. it's one thing to carry 50lbs of soft weight (i'm sure SWAT weapons are nice & lightweight, but even then that's only like 6 rifles and a few handguns maybe, not to mention a buncha boxes of rounds) in an alpine type backpack. totally different to lug around an oversize, soft duffel, with a bunch of long heavy sticks that don't bend. and im pretty sure after he raided that armory, he was carrying more than the hypothetical 6 rifles+ i mentioned above.

They gave some weapons to the dude that first helped rick. Gave some more to the kind hearted crypts at the rest home, shot hella zombies...its called attrition. They are running low. (See Daryl's diatribe on why he uses a bow and is fairly new at it)

Well if they were truly running low on ammo/weapons, maybe it wasn't such a bright idea to release and kill the walkers in the barn. Or training the stupid blonde how to use a gun. What a waste of ammo... :nchantr

I see both as pretty legitimate uses. :dunno

The more people that can protect and defend the better and you need practice to be able not to freeze and or clear jams and fire under pressure.

They are going to have to find nearest Big 5 and raid it :laughing

I think conversation of ammunition would be one of the main priorities in their new world since it is very unlikely that they will be able to scavenge ammo. There were many ways they could of disposed of the walkers without wasting their ammo,...the walkers was trapped/stuck in the barn, Glenn already showed us that there was a second level in the barn that the walkers couldn't get up too but the survivors could. I would of jerry-rigged a spear or a long spiked club and went to town on the walkers from the second level, actually I would of sent Shane to do it just because he's an idiot...but what I'm more interested about is, how was Herschel going to put the two walkers that he caught into the barn without letting the other walkers get out....

drop them from the second story of course.

how is it walkers can walk, crawl, kneel, sit, roll, and drag themselves if their limbs are gone, but can't CLIMB? there's the solution to the zombie apocalypse. push them into pits, holes or anything handy and leave them there.

of course in season one, they sure climbed stairs. now in season two, they can't...

What? Assume all the ammo has been snatched up from gun stores and sporting good stores and much of it expended by panicked people. You still have the military who deployed against the walker threat and failed. I didn't see 5.56 and 7.62 brass knee deep around the military vehicles so I assume there's a lot of ammo left, not to mention weapons to fire it. Then you've got all the sheriffs, police, and feds, and their stock of qualifying, practice, and issue ammuntion. Then you've got a high rate of firearm ownership in Georgia, from which you can loot your pick of rifles and sidearms to match the military and police ammo. No, guns and ammo wouldn't be a problem. Water, food, shelter, those are your problems.

They are single-minded creatures with only the instinct to eat and no defense, evasion, logic, or problem-solving skills. Rick, Shane, and friends could create a cattle pen out of the barn and quietly slaughter them one by one with a sledgehammer.

Because every time they pass by a huge abandoned military position full of humvees, helicopters, tanks, and massacred military personnel... they just keep on walking without bothering to pick up a damn thing.
