Warriors 16-17 Season

So, apparently for the two away games, it was a thing that they had a viewing party at the Oracle center???

Was that free? Cuz if people paid money to go to the arena to watch the away game on the jumbotron... : |:laughing

Yeah I don't get it either.

I didn't know the proceeds from those watch parties all go to charity and had assumed it was a move to maximize profit. Kudos to both teams for doing that.

The charity thing is cool. but the idea of going to a basketball arena to watch an away game on seems so silly. No live game and beers are still 10 dollars. Especially since the people I know who went used to be Lakers fans when they were on top.

If theaters were showing it, I think that might be kinda neat. I've seen a few UFC events at the theater before. Jumbotron is a big screen but it's not like you're close to it.

Maybe you're just not "social". :dunno

I wouldn't do it either, I'd go to a bar. I do like the idea of the watch parties like SF did at city hall during the Giants World Series runs.

Watch party could be pretty cool. You still get the atmosphere of 10s of thousands of warrior fans being in the same area cheering and whatever

I'm far from anti-social. I don't mind crowds or anything like that.

The only reason really for a jumbotron is for closeups of plays, show some stats, and for people in the nosebleeds. It's not like watching the jumbotron is a good way to watch the whole game so why would I wanna do that?

I get that it's more of a celebration type thing with other fans but in that case, I'd rather just go to a sports bar where I have a better view and cheaper beer.

If entry is 20 bucks, add in parking, food, and beer, that could be a 100 dollar night easily just to watch a crappy view of the game.

Maybe I'd feel different if I was a bigger GSW fan. But, for example, I wouldn't go to the racetrack to watch a MotoGP race on their jumbotron. I wouldn't go to Staples or the Honda Center to watch a UFC fight that's not happening there.

What about the people who gather outside the arena during a game? I know Quicken Loans Arena always has a crowd outside. Is there a jumbotron outside?

I wanna say yes. I was at Quicken Loans for a UFC last year and I think they had a big screen in the fan village area so you could watch the prelims while doing fan shit outside.

I'd imagine the cavaliers would have something similar.

its a form of tailgating guys

stop getting your panties in a bunch

you do realize, some tailgaters just show up to the parking lot and never set foot into the actual stage/event etc..

Real tailgating is cool. Good BBQ and beers.

Not 10 dollar microwave hotdogs

This. Being 'social' doesn't require showing up at the stadium cheering next to random strangers. A few buddies at home with some beer / cheap snack works just as well.

i saw za za continue to block jump shots by jumping into the shooters landing position,

he took out K. Leonard with 30+ points lead in game 1

and he did it again last night agains K Irving. :x

He has been playing dirty for a very, very long time. I'm not a fan of somebody who plays to injure other players. That's shit you'd never seen Klay or Steph doing. Spurs were pretty much done after Leonard's ankle got trashed.

unless I read it wrong, someone paid 266k for a pair of courtside seats.

It was 133k for the pair, but either way that's still nuts.

Yet you were a Dellavadova fan when he was on the Cavs? :laughing

Not as dirty as Zaza. He didn't end another teams' playoff run, a la Leonard. Either way, I don't like that kind of play period, on my team or against my team. There were moments when Delly did a lot of crap I didn't agree with. I'd from the midwest - we can't get behind that sort of shit, man...

Interesting note - lots of history being made in this series... the 133k pair was actually the most expensive set of basketball tickets in NBA history.
