I used to be a pot head. Smoked everyday, several times a day. Have a fat bong hit before walking to work. Go home at lunch and have another. And it was a social thing too. Majority of my friends smoked. My life revolved around smoking pot.
But what I figured out after years of doing this, that the best I would feel all day was just after that first bong hit in the morning. The rest of the day I was a lethargic blob trying to maintain the buzz. I remember the days when I thought that I would never be without smoking pot.
I don't know what changed for me, probably a combination of factors. $100 bucks a week in weed, getting into a relationship where the boyfriend does not smoke it. I noticed that I was feeling better when not stoned. I guess I just grew out of it. Did my performance at work change? I'd have to say yes, I am more productive at the office when not stoned.
I didn't smoke pot for several years, then last summer at the lake, they are passing around a joint, I took a hit off of it and it made me puke.
Totally lost my desire to smoke pot.
I know lots of people that are recreational pot smokers. Does not bother me. If you are an office jockey (like me), sitting at a desk, etc. I see no harm it in. If it gets you through the day, so be it.
However if you are working 30 feet up in the air on a lift, climbing up and down ladders, using power tools, I would say the risk involved with being stoned in that environment is an accident waiting to happen.
Another thing I've noticed as I'm getting older, is the same friends that I smoked with habitually back in the day, now have children and smoke it in front of the kids. I'm not so cool with smoking it in front of the kids. But to each their own.
