we're just waiting for the government to give us a chance to change it, the people are ready and willing. it's hard to even find conservatives who think pot should be illegal anymore. it's all just private interest and the government's tradition of persisting in horrible failed policies rather than admitting defeat.

the most common reason given for why pot is still illegal, is that the gov't can't tax it. dunno why people think that, everything else is taxed, hell, even DYING is taxed. if it were made legal, and stores could buy it in bulk and sell it cheaper than some dope fiend on the corner, then they'd pay the sales tax and voila, pot is legal and taxed.

what gets me is that pot is illegal, yet cigarettes are completely legal :wtf alcohol is also perfectly legal, yet plenty of people are incredibly dependent upon it, it sure as shit doesn't help assholes who get drunk and cause domestic disputes, and then there's the good old homicidal drunk drivers who kill lots and lots of innocent people each year. but, god forbid people get stoned!! that would absolutely destroy our country in a heartbeat!! :rolleyes

i don't think its stupidity in fact i think its the other way around. some smart politicians and big time pharmaceutical company cashflow. why use natural medicine when you can buy our chemicals and get hooked on them. more money for me so obey you dumbass people and like the sign says NO SMOKING! mass media and shit like reefer madness helped keep the taboo associated with the plant. some good points above. clothing, fuel, food and medicine are just some of the benefits of this plant yet we are forced to believe otherwise. alcohol and cigarettes kill us which is exactly what they want. this is why i have a hard time voting. call me ignorant.
 
Weed is not compatible with the government's Matrix Programming, that keeps us under control.
