Where is Hunter Thompson?

Meh. One's too dry and analytical for my taste and the other's just sloppy. "The rain put a dark cloud over the day's event." Did it, Canet. Did it really.

I should change my OP to "Name a past/present motorcycle racer who's good enough with words to write a broad-appeal book, or at least be published in something other than motorcycle magazines."

I think you're looking for Dan Walsh. He used to write for Bike magazine in the UK and then traveled all over South America on a F650 Dakar, still writing. I think he may still be there. He wrote an awesome book about his motorcycle trips called "Endless Horizon". You can find it on Amazon, he's a really great writer.

He did some writing for Motorcyclist too:

Well yeah I was in the latter portion of the baby boomer generation so missed most of the '60s stuff, Vietnam, and Rolling Stone Magazine, etc.. Very aware of it all because I was a kid then, but not fully invested. :x

"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and "Hell's Angels" are must reading.

That, absolutely.
He did some crazy political reporting around Nixon.

Oh, and Johnny Dep is Hunter S Thompson.

To take this thread even further from the OP, wasn't the Doonesbury character Duke supposed to be vaguely fashioned after Hunter Thompson?

Yes, Duke was based on HST.

A lot of folks are critical of this CD, and that's fine.

The book is great, I didn't really care for the movie.

But I love this CD. The production on this thing is simply incredible, and it's painfully hilarious to boot.

As your attorney, I advise you to listen to this CD.
