They didn't choose to share information, they were forced to, weren't they?

Even if they chose to, they wouldn't go back to their old ways for fear of having another attack and being blamed for it again. I don't buy it'll effect anyone besides politicians. Seems like a bunch of bullshit they'd say to cover their ass.

I don't buy the 'endangering our troops more' arguments. Troops on foreign territory already means physical and psychological warfare. Debating if the release of classified information or the troops' own actions make it more dangerous to them is pointless, imho.

Guess you don't care if American military members die because of the leaks, huh? Both Assange and PFC Manning should be put to death.

The information that was leaked outted intelligence assets that most likely were killed or compromised. Without those assets more military members are at risk of death. Without those assets a terrorist leader may continue to live and plan attacks on our soil.

Maybe a terrorist act will happen that may not have if the leaks had not occurred. Maybe you will be in the target area of such an attack and the terrorists will make you care a bit more.

If it resulted in death of assets it would be all over the news. The politicians would want us to know that Wiki's information killed them.

The early leaks by PFC Manning were reported to have contained the names of intelligence assets in Afghanistan. Wikileaks said they would purge those names, apparently they failed to completely do so. Do you really trust Julian Assange with the security and safety of your family members? I surely dont and i have family members in Afghanistan.

So how many names exactly were leaked? Are they current assets? Are any of your family members assets?

You just dont get it and i dont feel like explaining, my family members are U.S Marines and the leaks do put them in danger.
The leaks undermines our ability to get assets in the future as we can't really guarantee our security protocols will protect their identity.

Obviously we can't since we aren't privy. But what we CAN do is look at history and make projections based on the past. Hanssen, Ames and Walker all made our lives more dangerous, and got assets killed to boot. (Ames and Walker especially helped to blind us to the fall of the Soviet Union and the uncertainty that followed)

It really doesn't take a lot of imagination to see how this could harm us.

That's because you can't explain it bro. You have no evidence, you have no names. You have no specific danger it puts anyone in because you haven't read the cables have you? You have maybe.

Maybe you want your government to have secrets, I don't. A democracy is only a democracy if the people know what actions its government is taking so they can effectively decide if they want to keep those people in positions of authority. The government should be afraid of the people, not the other way around.

You must have secrets in the military if you want to survive in a war zone. That my friend is pure fact, obviously you have no experience in this area.

It could, and it couldn't. Their are an infinite amount of things that could happen. It could turn out to be a positive thing. If you can give me specifics for who it could harm, I'll gladly listen.
 
Maybe all private info of Mr.Jackspat can be made public. It couldn't potentially cause any damage, could it?

True. That's why I'm a fan of history, it at least gives you an idea of how things could go. Things like this have happened in the past, and have gone badly in fascinating ways that were difficult to predict.

It probably does much more harm than good, is my guess.
