Women's Handball Players Are Fined for Rejecting Bikini Uniforms
Norway’s women’s beach handball team was fined by the European Handball Federation on Monday, after players wore shorts, instead of the required bikini bottoms, during a game over the weekend.

The International Handball Federation requires women to wear bikini bottoms “with a close fit and cut on an upward angle toward the top of the leg.” The sides of the bikini bottoms must be no more than 4 inches. Men, on the other hand, can wear shorts as long as 4 inches above their knees as long as they are “not too baggy.”
Women's sports have been heading in this direction for awhile, though I haven't seen such a blatant penalty for not wearing sexy clothes.

Women's beach volleyball has been there for years, women's track has become a bikini fest. Plenty of other examples where powers that be are setting rules to make their female athletes attract more male (and female?) viewers through smaller and smaller uniforms for the women. It seems to be far, far more applied to female athletes.

Thoughts? Has it gone too far? Not far enough?

I was hoping the world had realized its wayyyyyyyyyy overdue to stop sexualizing anything and everything women do. No one should have to wear an athletic uniform that makes them feel uncomfortable. There is no reason to have such a blatant double standard in sports uniforms. :thumbdown

Clearly the problem is that we aren't sexualizing men enough. If women have to wear bikinis for my viewing pleasure, then men should have to wear banana hammocks.... for my viewing pleasure. :twofinger

Have you tried Dodge Ball?

Just have all the dudes compete nekkid like in the olden days. Problem solved. :brushing off hands

I wanna see Usain Bolt run another 9.58 while holding his delicate bits in one hand so as not to bruise them too badly. :thumbup

Nah, new rule for our nekkid Olympics. No holding or hiding the delicates. cock, balls, and tits should all be allowed to flop around however they will, as Zeus intended.

Another new rule. This new dress code absolutely applies to the winter games as well, no wimping out just because it's cold.

:laughing:blush

Maybe schedule the InterGem show at one of the convention centers where the games are being held to coincide with the Olympics?

Lame isn't a lame enough word to describe the lameness of this situation. Burkas mandatory in some places, bikinis in others... JFC

I mean, WTF is the European Handball Federation? Who gives a shit? Did anyone else in America even know this thing existed prior to whatever "Scandal" is being fabricated here to create outrage? :laughing

Is this an Olympic event? Is that why people are mad?

I seem to recall a problem a few years back where some Brazilian Athletes wanted to wear a thong and they weren't allowed to? Was it volleyball? I can't remember.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.
