WSBK Ducati pulls out

winning a title with rossi as the rider is more impactfull than all of their wsbk titles combined

Aprilia, Fuck Yeah. Run home to your mom Ducati.
While all the other arguments are valid. I think Aprilla pushed Ducati over the edge. Ducati is such a whoosie racing organization. The pattern sure seems to be: not winning enough, so whine about rules, don't get rules in their favor, whine and quit.

Aprilla on the other hand sure makes the most of their racing budgets.

didnt aprillia run away from motogp? please....they couldnt hang i the top ten while ducati was winning races 6 races in

If you're not building bikes to race...why build sport bikes?

"Hey, check out my awesome new race rep! It hasn't won any races, but man, check out this cupholder!"

I thought race replicas, for most riders, were mostly about posing anyway. If it was about having fun riding on the street there are better bikes.

Ducati waited till they were losing to announce a retreat from the battle. Ducati didn't say poop when they were beating Aprilia. Aprilia is a tiny company. A motogp budget is gigantic for them.

Augusta, Aprilia, and even the baby, Ducati, have long race histories. MV Augusta sold bikes that funded their racing. But, if you want to argue that all Italian motorcycle racing companies are weak, then fine - I'll bash on Italians for awhile. Just don't start on the Scottish motorcycle companies. I'll have to take sides. :teeth

(Insert: "I stirs the pot" icon, here).

P.S. There's another thread? Holy Spaghetti. Didn't anyone see the 'yellow flag'

ducati is a pretty small company too lets bot forget.

heres my take, they pulled out of WSBK, but in the same breath revamped and rededicated their motogp efforts. thats where the real pinnacle of racing lies, a motogp world title. pulling out of wsbk seems like a reasonable point to me. theyre focusing their efforts on motogp.

same strategy with aprilia only in reverse. they dont try to compete in motogp because they are focused on wsbk(same with BMW). dont divide up your resources. now if they pulled out of all racing(ala kawi) id be sayin different things

i really hope rossi on an unfamiliar duc can do better than jorge and spies on the yamahas. hayden and stoner seem to have a lot of trouble with the ducs so unless rossi is a magician with development i'm seeing a big waste of money during the next moto gp season. ya rossi is a god on a sportbike, but lorenzo is always either right on his tail or ahead of him, and his shoulder isn't 100% either. i would love to see him run away with another championship but is just doesn't seem realistic for 2011. maybe 2012

Erm . . . He turned around Yamaha, and put the M1 on top in the first year, then again the next year, and again . . .

Ducati isn't going anywhere long term in WSBK. They will most certainly be back and most likely in 2012 when their new Superbike is set to be released. It's a simple temporary business decision by Ducati in preparation to finalize the next generation of superbike. They don't have unlimited funds like Honda and it's pointless to race in 2011 when they are releasing a new bike in 2012.

WSBK is their baby and they are not going anywhere. It's amazing how quickly race fans make assumptions based on some minor setbacks in the wsbk standings. Just because Ducati doesn't come in the top two/three in a season that's not even finished and all of a sudden it's completely over for Ducati? Ducati still has more bikes in the Top 10 than any of the manufacturers. And all of a sudden Aprilia is the new king b/c they are running a prototype spec superbike? seriously where were they last year running a production spec bike with biaggi? Same position Ducati is in now(4th). I think most of their issues are with quality riders on their bikes than anything. The air/weight restrictions have been in place since 2008 and Ducati won the championship then so what has changed since then? The weight restrictions have been removed completely right?

The main issues Ducati is seeing now will always exist as long they continue to run Twins in the championships. It's too hard to place restrictions on Twins in a quantifiable manner as to level the playing field between the four cylinders vs twins. The floating rules for weight and air restriction put in place based on some retarded formula is broken at best and the fact that these restrictions can be imposed and removed during the same season based on which configuration is winning more races at that moment time is absolutely ridiculous.

Ducati just needs to homolagate their D16RR by releasing a cheaper "dumbed" down version of their existing d16rr so they can race it in WSBK. They already have the v4 platform they might as well make use of it.
They could still easily sell both a twin and v4. they already sell the 1119R for a ridiculous prices just so they can race it in WSBK as a "production" bike.
Then they can go back to dominating wsbk and the japanese manufacturers will hve to just grin and take it in teh ass like they've been doing for the past 20years of wsbk.

Read the press..."Ducati's venture in MotoGP has always been an operation set up in such a way as to be a sustainable effort."

Rossi is definately not cheap.
