CSC motorcycles? RZ3

I get that. The problem I have is I don't know about the "questionable long-term reliability." I am doing some research now.

Thanks for the feedback!

Also, resale value, super important for a starter bike.

Lots of Ninja 250s have been tracked, some have done 6-digit mileages without issues, many have done iron butt rides.

Gimmie a, uh, liter of cola.

A what?

A liter of cola.

Liter of cola, do we have liter of cola?

I want a god damned liter of cola.

I don't know what that is.

Lady behind desk: SIR! This is a library!

Thanks for asking about the warranty.

We ship parts to the people who are willing to work on their bikes themselves on the honor system. If someone calls us and tells us something failed, the part goes out that day. And, we stock all of parts for all of our bikes. Our parts availability is actually much better than what you'd get with the big brands.

For people who don't want to work on their bikes, we pay independent shops in their area to fix the bikes if there is a warranty claim. We get very few of those, though. As I said above, we are not targeting the guys who need a factory recall to add a ziptie to their brake line (as one of the major manufacturers had recently). There actually have not been that many warranty claims on these bikes.

When things do fail, both we and the owners tend to publicize it on the Internet. That's a double-edged sword. You get guys like some of the posters above who use photos we posted to prove we're somehow evil. But on the whole, we've found that being open actually helps us. What Dimitriy, Kestrel, and the others did not post are the folks who brag about the bike and our customer service. That info is out there; I'd invite you to read the threads I mentioned earlier and see it for yourself.

If things fail in a remote area, our approach is pretty much the same as everyone else's. The last time I rode through Baja, I didn't see too many KTM, BMW, or Harley dealers.

Actually, 6.2 miles (10 Kilometers)...

Thank you very much for posting that Craigslist ad. That is our TT250 model, which initially sold brand new for $1,895. We raised the price a couple of months ago to $2,195. I hope whoever is selling the one on Craigslist gets his $2,400. If he does, he might prove we are charging too little and we might have to raise our price.

I have both the RX3 and the TT250; they are both fun. This one is my TT250...

And here's a cool trip report about five guys who recently rode from Mexico to Canada on their CSC TT250s...

man people are so salty over this i don't get it

he hasn't pushed anything let's give him a chance to fuck up before chasing him out with pitchforks

i like the fact that we have multiple small moto manufacturers represented on barf

Thanks! She is about 5' 4", and she is currently looking at the lower Suzuki cruiser models.

Nighthawk 250 is what a lot of mc schools use and it's a great little starter bike. First gen ninja 250 is also a great first bike. New riders usually reference the feel of a bicycle to make themselves feel comfortable and the cruiser would probably feel better to someone who rode a recumbent. If she rides an upright/forward bicycle, the cruisers usually feel awkward. Just generalizations, should always ride some stuff first.

Agreed! I had one cruiser in my past, and I could never get into the position!

Cruisers do feel really weird at first, like a doctor should be up in there checking you out.

So after reading the responses I'm gonna go hug my old Honda.

This. Very much this. I feel like I'd enjoy having a beer with Joe and hearing about his ride through China.

Most enjoyable thread I have ever read on BARF!

Something so satisfying about reading the pleasant, and effectively succinct responses from Joe. I'm not in the market for one these bikes, but I'm definitely interested and aware of the company now. I hate sales pitches, sales people, lame self promoting. I especially hate haters, but...

Joe,
From a guy that can criticize anything, you NAILED IT.

Cheers :party

I kinda figured the amazon links, links to CSC websites blog posts, and all of that would constitute 'pushing'.

but that's up to the admin squad, I don't really care too much one way or the other.

On the Bike itself, it's what, 3500 plus shipping, about 500 dollars off the cost of a cb300f MSRP. good deal if you end up at like 5000+ OTD on the CB300, which could easily happen, but if you can get a decent deal on maybe a new, 2015 model year or something like that. I personally think Honda reliability and build quality, Honda dealer network, and the Honda badge when it comes time to sell the bike, is worth a hell of a lot more then $500.

The ADV looking model is probably a better deal, because there really aren't many bikes in that class and size range, the nearest I can think of is the CB500X which is larger and quite a bit more expensive.

Still, I'm not a fan of the business model. All of the bikes are just rebranded bikes from Zongshen for the RX/C/Z 3 models, and some other company for the TT, couldn't find the original source. The other somewhat large company with manufacturing in china, Cleveland Cyclewerks, come up with most of their own designs and do some prep work in the US, and they at least made an attempt to bring back US manufacturing. I think it's a shame that CSC didn't do something like that instead of just bringing the ugly zongshen models over.
