CSC motorcycles? RZ3

Hey Joe... In recognition of your blatant disregard respect toward the general code of conduct for BARF, as well as your mockery kind words toward its members , I've decided to help you out by digging through some of the threads over at Chinariders.net, which describe in detail the excellent features of the motorcycles for sale by you and your employer...

A lot of work to dig up all that.
Are you also willing to answer questions related to your employers motorbikes in this thread or in another? Honda right?

The ADV looking model is probably a better deal, because there really aren't many bikes in that class and size range, the nearest I can think of is the CB500X which is larger and quite a bit more expensive.

Still, I'm not a fan of the business model. All of the bikes are just rebranded bikes from Zongshen for the RX/C/Z 3 models, and some other company for the TT, couldn't find the original source. The other somewhat large company with manufacturing in china, Cleveland Cyclewerks, come up with most of their own designs and do some prep work in the US, and they at least made an attempt to bring back US manufacturing. I think it's a shame that CSC didn't do something like that instead of just bringing the ugly zongshen models over.

SS, the TT is also manufactured to our specifications by Zongshen. It uses an air-cooled, carbureted engine (all of our other bikes have liquid-cooled fuel injected engines).

Regarding the comments about not manufacturing our own design in the US, we actually did exactly that for many years. Our parent company is Pro One Performance Manufacturing, and we manufactured large V-twin custom bikes on a production basis until about 4 years ago (that market has largely evaporated). Starting almost exactly 7 years ago, we built a modern version of the original Mustang motorcycle (you can read about Mustangs in an article I wrote for Motorcycle Classics magazine here: http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/classic-american-motorcycles/mustang-motorcycles-zmkz13jfzbea.aspx. (I write for Motorcycle Classics and sometimes other magazines.)

The Mustang reproduction market was a good one for us for several years until that niche's demand was satisfied. We built quite a few of those little bikes in both 150cc and 250cc configurations. We discontinued Mustang production about a year and a half ago, but we still inventory parts and support the community.

Those little Mustangs were unique bikes. I and four of my friends actually rode the 150cc bikes all the way to Cabo San Lucas and back.

The original Mustangs were legendary. Walt Fulton almost won the Catalina Grand Prix on a Mustang until his engine died three laps from the finish. The story was that the Mustang's smaller-diameter wheels and short wheelbase gave the bike such a tremendous handling advantage that Fulton would have won had his engine not died. The big boys from Milwaukee, Springfield, and elsewhere told the Catalina people they needed to find a way to exclude Mustang from further competition or they would pick up their marbles and go home. Within weeks, the organizers decreed that all bikes entering the Catalina Grand Prix would have to have at least 16-inch diameter wheels (the Mustangs had 12-inch wheels).

The problem with manufacturing our Mustang replicas in the US, of course, was cost and the size of the market. Those bikes were not inexpensive, and a lot of our customers would option them up to where they went out the door at prices approaching $10,000 (yep, $10K for a 150cc bike). Here's a photo of one of our Mustangs in that category...

We hooked up with Zongshen when we added the 250cc engine to the little Mustangs, and when we saw the new RX3 they were developing over there, we took the steps necessary to become the North American exclusive importer, get the bikes CARB and EPA certified, etc. All of this, as well as the story behind our first RX3 Baja ride and the 5000-mile Western America Adventure Ride, are described in detail in 5000 Miles At 8000 RPM.

Regarding the Baja rides, we organize a free Baja tour every spring for our RX3 riders (they pay only their hotel, fuel, and food costs). I lead those tours and it is one of the most fun things I get to do. Here are a couple of videos from the first two...

Bingo

Ugh. Please don't.

You're a paid consultant/employee of CSC. If you're searching for your own press releases, that indicates to me that you're actively looking to push your product. You guys aren't a sponsor of this forum. Non-sponsor marketing is discussed in the terms of service, and generally frowned upon.

There are plenty of forums where you guys peddle your stuff - please don't do it here.

Kestrel, you nailed it! I know and have dealt with J Berk, he will sell his mother for a freebie. I also know the CSC head honcho S Seidner and the lies he has told people. " if it's to good to be true it probably is " believe it

Any more details on your dealings? Since J B has no problems peddling his Chinese scooters here, not that I mind too much, I'd love to see the other side of the story.

Unome, since you are using your screen name, I don't know who you are. I'd like to echo the guy above. If you have any details, please let me know. I told Mom to knock off giving away the freebies; if she is still at it, I'll need to talk to her again.

Disgruntled CSC RX3 owner

Well that was an interesting read, kept me from doing my work.
I'll share my experience with owning the RX3 from CSC. Bought last year ,9700 miles on it. I am not affiliated with them other then I bought one of their bikes.
What I'm disgruntled about is their 2 year warrantee. It's half over and I haven't been able to use it yet . Except for a leaky fork seal when new caused by a wayward inspection sticker that made it's way under the seal. CSC paid my local mechanic to replace it. Done deal.
This bike has taken me up and down the Columbia River Gorge multiple times ,through Hell's Canyon multiple times on fun camping trips and ADV rallies.
I did an Iron Butt 1000 with it and a bunch of big bagger type bikes. I couldn't keep up with them on the 80 mph freeways in Idaho but was only maybe 20-30 minutes behind them when we completed the run with no mechanical problems at all . I had the throttle twisted as far as it would go for hours on end between fill ups on I84 through Idaho and I thought surely this would get me some warrantee issues. Sigh .
So end of this month I hope to ride up into Canada for the Horizons Unlimited ADV rally. End of next month I hope to ride to Yosemite for the Horizons Unlimited Rally down there. Maybe I'll finally get to use some of my warrantee on foreign soil????
I hear what all of you are saying on both sides and see your points. At this point if I gave this bike away ,I would feel like it owed me a nothing as it's done everything I've asked of it with out any problems.
It's been a fun bike for me and I have no reason to believe it wouldn't take me any where I want to go. Just feel I'm not getting my moneys worth warranty wise.
Oh well, worse things have happened :thumbup, rj

I noticed that you just joined barf today and have one post, this one. That seems very suspicious. Did Joe Berk put you up to this?

Gatling

My man, I am a voracious reader. Send me a copy of your favorite and I will post an honest review. :thumbup

In all seriousness though, I am glad you joined the thread. I have not even heard of the bikes, but I have a lady friend who is looking for an entry level bike and this opens more options for her.

Oh...and for the record: Damn your marketing scheme!

Maybe Joe will send you his first book about Gatling Guns and you can enjoy the many mistakes

Thank you very much for posting that Craigslist ad. That is our TT250 model, which initially sold brand new for $1,895. We raised the price a couple of months ago to $2,195. I hope whoever is selling the one on Craigslist gets his $2,400. If he does, he might prove we are charging too little and we might have to raise our price.

I have both the RX3 and the TT250; they are both fun. This one is my TT250...

And here's a cool trip report about five guys who recently rode from Mexico to Canada on their CSC TT250s...

I'd buy for 2k if this was fitted as a sumo

Unome:

Perhaps you could refer us to one of your books; I'd enjoy reading any of them.

Any chance you might come out from behind your screen name? Anonymity is such a cowardly prop.

Of all my books, The Gatling Gun was the best selling. I did very well with it. The research was the best part, as was working on the modern versions on the A-10, the Vulcan, the AC-130, and the F-16. And there actually was a movie (of sorts) about it; I was on the History Channel's "Tales of the Gun" series when they produced a show about early machine guns. You can still find that episode on YouTube if you look for it.

The Gatling Gun is out of print now, but if there is sufficient interest, I could probably pitch it to the publisher and get it back in print. I'm not aware of any mistakes in that book, but if you know of any, by all means, please let me know. The reviewers at Colt (who produced the original Gatlings), General Electric (who produced the modern versions), the US Army, and the military magazines who reviewed it didn't find any. But then, they were not Unome.

Alas, it is a bit more difficult to buy The Gatling Gun. But 5000 Miles At 8000 RPM and Moto Colombia! are still in print, and very shortly, Riding China will be, too. Did I mention you can buy them on Amazon?

So, about that "Unome" thing...actually, I don't. Care to step out into the open?

No VT, Joe didn't put me up to this, I'm around 1200 miles from where he is, I'm in Washington State. I did read in the CSC blog about this forum so thought I would check it out. He has been pestering me to join them on the BAJA ride though. Which I would do in a heartbeat when I am able to sometime. So not a bad thing.
My post was just to give an owner's view of the bike. It's not a BMW or KTM or even a Suzuki. But it does do what it was designed to do ,adventures on gravel and paved roads with the occasional trip on rougher stuff. It's not a mxer with lights, nor a Dakar Rally bike. But it's my fun , go too bike when I want to feel good things. And if it got stolen or blows up ,I'm not going to freak like it was a Beemer or Africa Twin.
This blog reminds me of Killery and Trumpet. Kinda fun to listen to grown adults argue about wither the glass is half full or half empty. Ya know what I mean?
I'm jealous of you guys down in Cali. Get to ride all year long ,coast or ocean, or mountains. Up here in Walla Walla (put your Walla Walla jokes in here ) winter gets cold and takes half the year out of riding.
Ride safe everyone. If you see me on the way to Yosemite end of September, flag me down and I'll buy lunch or dinner or refreshments. That's what I like about buying my Chinese bike. I can still afford to be nice to people :ride rj
