The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

agree with the overall premise but i thought we all understood that the Niners problem has been ownership ever since Eddie D left town...

can't lay it all at the GM's feet when you have the boy wonder owner tweeting about players and coaches and generally undermining you.

Look, Bro, this is a Dolphins fan coming in talking shit about how teams that don't win are able to get all the money, but the teams he mentioned (Dallas, NYG, 'Skins, Niners) all have more Superbowl wins than the 'Fins and everyone except the Pigskins have twice as many or more. :laughing

At a certain point, some sports shit-talk is so absurd, you just have to laugh it off. Probably a lot of it is just sour grapes, since both the Cowgirls AND the Niners have beaten Miami in the Superbowl... :laughing

How can you laugh off facts? :wtf

Half the top 10 most valuable teams in pro sports suck at winning games. But they are making huuuuuge profits anyway.

Cowboys were 4-12, no playoffs
49ers were 5-11, no playoffs
NY Giants, 6-10, no playoffs
Knicks, no playoffs, 13th of 15 teams in the NBA East
Lakers, no playoffs, 15th of 15 teams in the West (last place)

Sometimes you guys remind me of guys talking about how good they used to be in High School.

Who cares about past successes? Let's see who is going to come in second place this year. Cause we know who is coming in first.

Cowboys and Niners both have new bazillion dollar stadiums and historical success, the other 3 play in the 2 largest media markets in the US.

No surprise there.

And the Fins were 6-10. What does this have to do with how many fans a club does or doesn't have? Or how much money those fans are willing to shell out on thier team?

Stinkin' like a day old pool of spilled T-bird 'roun heah.

It's an observation how the most valuable teams are making money but suck at winning.

Cowboys are #1 in finance, but can't win on the football field.

most likely yet another team in the weaksauce NFC, amirite!?

Those teams DON’T suck at winning games. Last I heard, The Cowgirls are tied with Green Bay for the highest winning percentage in the NFL. I think you fail to understand that the profit bases you're talking about are based off of decades of developing a customer base. Profits do not vary much from year to year, because fans don’t. Maybe in Miami, fair-weather fans are just standard issue, so this is strange to you, but the Niners, Cowgirls and Giants are all top 10 teams in win percentage in the NFL. I’m not sure about the Redskins honestly, but I know Philly isn’t and they are a losing team with an under .500 record. :teeth

The NFL teams all in the top most profitable margin have seriously been there for decades. This isn’t new. I mean the Giants and Cowgirls are still making money off of selling Aikman and Taylor Jerseys.

If you get a Team that has a huge customer base and a strong legacy of winning that really falls off the win train for like an entire generation, say like with Chicago, you start to see the profits dip, but when you deliver a consistent championship product like the Giants or Cowgirls, it just makes sense that they will keep their customer base stimulated. You shouldn’t confuse the business of sports profitability with a Fight Purse where whoever wins in that moment gets the largest share of the spoils. :dunno

No, dude, I fucking hate the Cowgirls, but they are like the most winningest team in Football.

Found a story showing all-time win percentages of the Super Bowl era, up to 2013 and I think this might include playoffs too so it’s either inaccurate or different than a chart only showing regular season wins.

1. Broncos, .580
2. Cowboys, .580
3. Dolphins, .579
4. Bears, .578
5. Packers, .558
6. Browns, .554
7. 49ers, .551
8. Vikings, .551
9. Raiders, .550
10. Giants, .547

Wiki says this for regular season W-L record:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_win–loss_records

1. Bears, .570
2. Cowboys, .568
3. Packers, .566
4. Dolphins, .561
5. Patriots, .548
6. 49ers, .543
7. Ravens, .542
8. Vikings, .542
9. Giants, .542
10. Broncos, .541

And then here's another....which one is correct?

http://michigan-football.com/nfl/nfl.htm

Since they all show the Dolphins as superior to the Giants, which everyone that follows the NFL already knew, all of them are correct. :laughing

All these NFL suspensions in 2016, two more added to the list yesterday. That OLB Lynch for the Niners had a great year last year too.

But the conclusion drawn is about the teams. Like it's their fault they have so many fans with money? Here's something to ponder. When these teams are winning where are they ranked in a list of most valuable($)? My bet is in the list not changing much because it has more to do with the fans than the teams.

Here's something to ponder. When these teams are winning where are they ranked in a list of most valuable($)?

That's quite a stretch to ponder, since none of those five teams are winning now.

Of those five teams, four of them (Knicks, Niners, Lakers and Giants) fired their head coach. The Cowboys kept their head coach but have the same meddling team owner.

But they got bizness profits, big profits.

Of those five, I'd take the Knicks as the team on the rise, they are in year two of a rebuild not year one like the rest. The other four are churning with chaos.

The Knicks owner, Dolan, is as bad an owner as they come....

The Knicks have some seriously loyal fans, but the on court product awful, save for the Linsanity run a few years back.

It simply amuses me that these big-money teams suck at doing their job. The Cowboys are the #1 team yet they've been sucking hard for the past 21 years.

In the past 21 years, since the 1995 Season, the Cowboys have had 10 winning seasons, four .500 seasons and only 7 losing seasons. :laughing I wouldnt call that sucking hard.

Miami for example, in those same 21 years has 10 winning seasons, 3 .500 seasons and 8 losing seasons.

The Bengals fared worse with 7 winning seasons, 4 .500 seasons and 10 losing seasons.

Its all relative. All teams go through a significant losing period, and a significant winning period.

If you are a student of the game, you'd see what this says.

As a Raiders fan it's obvious. up until the 2000s the Raiders had the best winning percentage of all time. As all can see: it took over a decade of absolute shit football to drive them down to the bottom of the top 10.

But we will rise again...

Yup if you measured these stats up til 2005, the Raiders and Dolphins were primo. They've both supremely stunk for a decade, and dragged down the percentages. :(
