The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

It's why Miami released Grimes. The guy can still play. :thumbup

But his wife.:thumbdown

Grimes had an up-and-down year in 2015, he got torched a lot, compared to a really good 2014. But the whole defense was having (another) bad year so it's tough to tell if it's old age catching up with him as he is 32.

His wife is an attention whore, building her brand or whatever. Huge distraction, can't be good for Brent's clarity of mind. As the Buccaneers are finding out right about now, and Grimes hasn't even played for them yet.

The Bucs are not even involved, but they are now hearing questions they shouldn’t have to answer.

All TV media is very New York centric. The Jets are a great team, too.:rofl

Well, yeah, that is kind of where I am coming at it from as well. I mean, I am excited by the potential of this new D in NY and I think we are the odds on favorite for winner of the, "Worst to First Defense," award, it is still just a paper tiger until they actually play together and remain healthy.

The Giants defense can't be any worse than last year, that's for sure. So already things are looking positive for 2016-17.

I share your thought about paper tiger, but when regarding the Raiders. The hands-down MVP for the year already is McKenzie. He's given Del Rio and the staff everything they need to be competitive. Will they put it all together? How will injuries play a role?

I'm pretty sure they can get it done and get to the playoffs, but until they step onto the field and actually perform, it's all pie in the sky.

While everyone looks good at the starting line, I think the Raiders have much more realistic optimism surrounding them. It's the feeling that not only has the train wreck that were Al's final years and beyond has been cleared, but the tracks have been rebuilt and the train is starting to run (w/ limited service) in the right direction.

I think the bigger question is whether Prince Mark gets his shit together, Oakland/Alameda get their shit together, and the A's get their shit together... that's an awful lot of shit.

"More of a concept than a reality" the video guy said.

How can they rank the Giants D-line #4 but only have the Dolphins D-line at #10? We got Ndamukong Suh, Mario Williams, and Cameron Wake. :x

Wake only played 7 games last year (Achilles) yet still had 7 sacks. Fins had another good D-line guy Olivier Vernon who played 16 games and had 7 sacks, but he's gone now as he got paid a dumpster full of money by some NFC team...

And the Bengals ranked #3? Come on man, did they throw darts at a board for these defensive line rankings?

Espn's lists are always silly. But the Bengals D line is clearly a top 5 line on any intelligent person's list. Atkins and Dunlap last year had 24.5 collective sacks. That's only 7 less than Miami's entire team sack total. :laughing and its more than the entire New Jersey Giants total

It must be nice to play the Browns twice a year. :p

Most valuable pro sports teams in the world.

Dallas Cowboys #1

(insert soccer teams America doesn't care about in the blanks, and the hated Pats who we hate because we admire them for winning so much)

New York Knicks #7

Washington Redskins #8

New York Giants #9

San Francisco 49ers #10
Los Angeles Lakers #10 (tie)

This is your 2016 sports world. When the most clueless, horribly pathetic sports teams with the shittiest GM's (hi 49ers) earn money not wins. This really is a business, eh?

You suck, rich losers. Pro sports is supposed to be about winning games, championships. Your fans hate you for focusing on profits not victories.

Have you saw the defensive lines those two teams have? The AFC East is brutal, just brutal.

F the Patriots!

The AFC North is brutal. The AFC East is the Patriots and a bunch of Pussies. When was the last time anyone other than NE won that division? It's been 8 years. And let's keep it real, the only lost the division that year cause Brady only played one game. The patriots have won that division 13 out of the past 15 years. Brutal my ass. In the past decade the bills and Dolphins have only had one winning season each. And you have the chutzpah to bag on Cleveland? The jets atleast managed to win more than lose but still can't beat NE. Meanwhile, in the last decade the AFC north has put more teams in the playoffs than any other division, had two teams win the division four times and one team win the division three times. Its the most physical division in football, hands down. But I agree F the patriots. How about someone in your shitty division beat them for a change?

me, right now

You are sorely misguided, son. The Giants have been putting out one of the most consistent winning products in sports for like 90 Years. We average a championship every Decade all the while pushing for parity for small market teams like Green Bay. Sports is about where you're from, not how many times a team wins. It is the contemporary equivalent of tribal warfare. It makes perfect sense that the largest markets would have the wealthiest teams.

Now that the Rams are back in L.A., their value will probably skyrocket too. The Niners are clearly running a scheister game with their ownership, but most of those teams are legitimate efforts to win and bring rings home.

The Giants have been mostly NFL doormats my whole life. A couple of titles lately can't hide all those loser seasons.

A scant 19 winning seasons out of the past 52 years. I'm embarrassed for your lack of historical knowledge, son. The Giants have consistently sucked for more than half a century. :p

Long history of being garbage, with a few Parcells and Coughlin titles sprinkled in that in no way overcome the Giants history of being consistent losers.

They have won 4 Superbowls in 4 decades of that time. :dunno

agree with the overall premise but i thought we all understood that the Niners problem has been ownership ever since Eddie D left town...

can't lay it all at the GM's feet when you have the boy wonder owner tweeting about players and coaches and generally undermining you.
