2010 + Ducati Multistrada - what do you not like?

Stan23, if my PP windscreen works out for me, I'll have a dark tint CalSci shorty for sale. If I didn't have a fetish for c/f I would have settled on that one rather than springing for the PP.

OK looks like I was wrong. I didn't get a PP windscreen with the bike. I have some unknown brand dark tint stubby one.

I put it on last night and rode with it today. It's about 70% better than the stock windscreen. I can actually ride on the freeway sans earplugs with my Arai Quantum 2 (my most quiet helmet).

I may just keep this thing on full time, and from the cockpit view it looks like i'm on a streetfighter kind of bike.

Not the best looking thing out there, but at least I have a direction now - lower is quieter!

Stan I'll trade you a lightly used RT1150, all freeway miles. I don't have the title but it should be easy to get a duplicate

That looks like the CalSci shorty. You can get some black plastic caps from the manufacturer to cover the silver mounting hardware.

Thank you!

I went back to the stock screen, although I am somewhat interested in the DP touring screen. Supposedly the same height as stock, but with a 'lip' up top. I know screens are very subjective, and I have not read much online about this screen to drop the $200 for it.

In other news, the goodies are starting to come in for my bike. Got my crash bars, and some braketech rotors to fix the lame brakes.:)

Sweet! Get that shit fully dialed-in for me, Stan. I appreciate it. :teeth

What's wrong with your brakes? Mine work great, even the rear. :)

The front brakes have no feel. They are weak, then grab like the hands of God.

Also, if i'm hardbraking - like very hard from say 100mph, I am getting a shuddering sensation. Not felt on the bars, but you'll feel the bike vibrate.

it's more apparent when in Enduro mode and less in Touring mode. I have yet to run a dial indicator through the rotors, but i'm guessing they may be warped, but it seems suspension damping has an effect as well.

I'm just going to do the whole thing; new pads, rotors, and a full re-bleed. (the brakes were bled 2K miles ago)

I may just go iron rotors this time and be done with it.:)

I have the Puig short sport screen. Works good. Not perfect, but very good. I rode to Hawthorne with it. Clocked in 1034 miles that weekend.

I just noticed my bike doing this with light braking from speeds >60mph. Not happy a rotor may be warped at 8.5k miles given I'm generally gentle on the brakes.

Pad deposits on the rotor can feel similar to a warped rotor.

Well, i've had the bike for a week now, and I thought I'd give an initial report. I had to do a lot of wheeling/dealing to get this bike--about a years worth! Life has gotten busy so i've only managed to put a few hundred miles on the bike.

My initial impressions with the bike (mind you, I had never ridden this bike before buying it) Is that the motor is absolutely incredible! So much usable power at your fingertips. It was nothing like my R1, which you need to rev the crap out of to get that 'peak' power. The re-tuned 1198 motor makes power from 4K up to redline, but in a very linear delivery. I'm a V-Twin guy, so this motor is like a dream to me.

The chassis feels nice, but the damping seems to only work good when you push the bike.. Typical Ducati I guess. The bike is still very easy to putt around, and is easy to maneuver. I can't wait to take this out to the track.

When I first read about this bike, I was initially turned off by the electronic suspension, and all that gadgetry, but since using them, it's the natural progression. I'm sure 10-years from now, this will be the norm. The different suspension settings / power curve works. There is huge difference in power delivery and ride quality between say Enduro mode and Sport mode. In sport mode, the throttle has a very on/off feel, and the power comes on real quick! Overall, i'm happy I went with the S model, but not looking forward to any repair bills down the line. :)

I also got to work on the bike (install crash bars, and re-route the PCV) and like all Ducati's, everything comes apart easily and everything is accessible. My only gripe, is that to change the oil, you need to take off a bunch of parts.

Overall, this is the first bike i've ridden where it made me not lust for any other bike. Not even the Panigale--which I love and will probably buy someday. I have not looked forward to any other bike other than this one, and I must say--color me impressed!

/Actually, I am looking forward to picking up my Husky SM511R:)

Great initial assessment, Stan. You're getting a 511R? Nice! I've got my eyes on the TE630, and might end up talking myself into picking up a used one. I don't need it, but it sounds like WAY too much fun for dualsport and adventure rides. I would probably keep my wee-strom, as it's a great commuter workhorse and a decent ST bike. I wish I could afford a stable like yours, but I do enjoy living vicariously through your bike purchases. :thumbup

The 511 is the only other SM I want, wait. Also the 'berg 570. :)

I can't read through this whole thread, so maybe this has been mentioned but the range blows. The tank is super small and I am getting about 32mpg average. That means I stop to fill about every 90-100 miles.

But... it's all worth it.The bike is AWE-SOME.:thumbup

Not seeing those numbers here.. Even at 32mpg, you should be getting 140-miles easy. It's a 5 gallon tank, so 32x5=160.

I think my low fuel light came on at around 150. The computer says my average mpg is 40ish.
