2014 Honda CBR1000RR SP

Basically. Updated wheels & bodywork. But pretty much the same bike since its inception in 2008. :|

Wheels bodywork suspension and brakes? Pretty cool to see a jap manufacturer putting on the top shelf goodies.

.....Now they need to put an affordable v4 underneath those plastics :teeth

that^! i feel like there are a lot of people holding their breath on some type of race replica v4 to come out, and not in limited numbers. i am one of them.

i am one of those that, after seeing the same ole honda appliance motorcycle year after year, think they should stick to making generators.

You guys dont get it. Its all for wsbk homologation in 2014.

Certain parts cant be swapped out next year, but if 500 bikes come from the factory a certain way, those guys can use those parts. So you see ohlins forks, shock, brembos, marchesini wheels coming stock. Brake lines can be swapped, etc. so no point there.

And wsbk can add their electronics package later. No need for a stock one.

:confused

2014 onwards in WSBK will have a price cap on suspension and brake components, including the technicians for the said parts. WSBK teams will still swap these suspension and brakes to the Ohlins Superbike forks and billet Brembos, and they'll probably even ditch the Marchesinis for some OZ wheels.

Unless you're talking about Superstock 1000?

That would explain the engine work done as it does not bring much extra hp to the table, but it may bring added reliability once the thin head gasket is installed and the bike hammered on every weekend on the track.
That said, this is just the kind of bike EVERY manufacture should have, a uprated true 'RR'. I have never understood why (Mainly Japanese) manufactures put on a set of stickers and call it a 'special' when most of the euro's have a uprated version for the consumer to chose from.

Why is it that Honda seems content to do just enough? Ten years on since their gp bike went to 4T V and we don't have a racer rep model yet? You could build an insane used 08+ 1000RR for that money. Seems lazy.

My understanding the V4 won't be ready for another year so they threw us a bone until then.

I truly wonder if that is top of the line Ohlins stuff, and Brembo stuff, I doubt it? anyway I like the hand picked parts. Wish the wheels were black. Not bad at least its an improvement, unlike the 600.

Top of the line? No. The cheap Ohlins ? No. Good stuff? Yes. I believe I read the CBR SP comes with TTX shock and Nix 30 forks. Those would run around $3600..The top of the line, AKA gas pressurized SBK forks alone start at $10K and go up from there...

If its anything like the ducatis, the ohlins and brembos are not the highest you can get, like the ttx... Etc. but they are plenty good enough for us mere mortals.

Have the Chinese started knocking off ohlins yet?

oh for sure. i bought an ohlins rear shock for my derbi gpr50 for 120 bucks. the decal came upside down and it was spelled "olhins"it looks pretty but not much more stiff than stock.

Yup, TTX and NIX just like on the Triumphs. Wouldn't make much sense to use the lower spec stuff like on the Duc S-models, as the Showa Twin-Tube and BPF on the stock CBR (as of 2012) are already more sophisticated than those. In fact, I'd be surprised if even the Ohlins TTX outperforms the stock Showa twin-tube... they're a similar fundamental design. Performance differences would come down to surface finishes and tuning choices.

Honda is playing. Not serious shit just like most of their stuff at this point.

Sorry WSB boys. Another year of searching for podiums by overriding old tech.
