2014 Honda CBR1000RR SP

I think you are right Dennis, this won't be enough for WSBK level.
I still like it though as a honest Super Bike that a mere mortal could appreciate own and maintain.:ride

Remember when folks were paying big $$ for one of these? : Yamaha YZF-R1 LE
PRICE
MSRP $18,000
I would take this new CBR over the LE.. Just me though, probable soft in the head as I owned a 05 CBR 1K over the R1.:p

Honda has not been invested in WSBK for, what, at least half a decade now?

yeah! buy a spare set of oem plastics and a tank...then paint 'em:laughing

Throw a shorty on it and it'll be fantastic. Hate the look of pipes these days.

Only if done right (Akra, LV, etc.). I detest shorty pipes, especially those obnoxious, ear-piercing POS HB cans that squids rush out and slap on their bikes. :thumbdown And then they wonder why they loose all their low-end torque. :rolleyes:laughing

I love the low-slung, mass-centralized design that manufacturers have engineered for modern bikes. The "center-up" undertail exhaust is dated and puts weight up high, exactly where you don't need it.

Looks like yesterday's bike, for sure, but it's still cool. I bet it'll hold its own against the top-spec competition during the inevitable liter-bike comparos...

Racers have been rather unimpressed with the BP forks.

Yeah, BPF is a mixed bag. Great valve area gives really good precise control/tunability - very easy to crank up low-speed comp without destroying high-speed comp. Very unlikely to have cavitation or hydrolock issues. But you get the larger o-ring around that big valve, and I suspect friction issues from the outer tube distortion, and the result is a sticky (or non-supple) fork.

Anyway, that twin tube rear shock is still the shit.

wait, hasn't the Big Piston Forks, only come on RR bikes?

Bikes that aren't valved for rough public roads, but smooth/prepared, and maintained, closed course race tracks?
Even though RR bikes come with street legal lights and exhaust, to sell at the volume = low enough price, the public will pay...
They really don't have street suspension.

Or race suspension.

The styling cues(or lack thereof) when it was introduced was fugly and sadly remains this way, the exhaust cannister plastered to the side is freekin hiddeous beyond words.

...FYI, for any interested parties....

We just got confirmation that our one and only CBR1000RR SP will be shipping at the end of April.

Still no official pricing.

Um, dude......it's already way shorter than exhausts were just a few years ago.

Myself, I'll wait for an entirely new set of fairings. This Honda is, what, 6 years old now? Since what, 2008? Jesus. Talk about outdated. After all these years, the front end still looks like it caught a whiff of a skunk.

no, no....they re-did the front end in front of the headllights for 2012 and other small Honda like things:laughing

clearly Honda knows that they are the bees knees and don't worry about big jumps!

I dont want to own another 1L in line four with crazy HP #s, I want a twin that will be hooligan bike on the street and will sound like one. Honda can we please have another RVT1000 with better ergonomics and light weight.

always nice to see new bikes, this one looks clean

Shorties look great but I would never own a bike with one. Way too loud, and the noise shoots right into my right ear which is the "worse" one in terms of tinnitus. And yes, very squidly. :squid

This is purely a matter of aesthetics.
