2025 F1 Season (spoilers will be discussed no doubt starting on March 16th)

Very costly for Ferrari, they're going to spend the rest of the season trying to dig themselves out of the hole that this round of DQ's has cost them.

To be in last place in the 2nd RB? Naw....

Gone are the days teams had unlimited testing so rookies can get used to the car.
Ya this is looking like a demotion for Yuki.

I wonder if the cost cap is impacting their use of the sim as well. There were hints last year that the RB sim is solid (has good correlation). Pretty much every time they turn around a bad setup overnight for Max seems to support that. Running the sim costs money. Hmm.

Albon had something to say about the RB two years ago.

Alex Albon has lifted the lid on why drivers struggle to be Max Verstappen's Red Bull team-mate as pressure rises on current star Liam Lawson.

Speaking on the High Performance podcast back in 2023, Albon said: 'Truthfully, the car is what it is. But he [Verstappen] is very quick. He has quite a unique driving style actually.

'It's not that easy to get along with. I would say my driving style is a bit more on the smooth side but I like a car that has a good front end. So quite sharp, quite direct.

'Max does too but his level of sharp and direct is a whole different level. It's eye wateringly sharp. To give people an explanation what that might feel like... I don't know if you play computer games at all?

'But if you bump up the sensitivity completely to the max and you move that mouse, it's just darting across the screen everywhere. That's kind of how it feels. It becomes so sharp that it makes you a little bit tense.

'And so what ended up happening was, especially during my year, you start off being a little bit behind and then as the season goes on, Max wants his car to be sharper.

'And as it goes sharper, he goes quicker... and for you to catch up, you have to start taking a few more risks. It just starts to snowball. Every time the car becomes sharper and sharper, you start to become more tense.

'I think it's like any sport. If you start to not be in that flow state and you're having to really think about it, you don't have that confidence in the car'.

Naw.....they will still blame the driver until Max can no longer get decent results (and leaves). IMHO this is Red Bull's version of Honda in MotoGP.

I think Max talking about the VCARB last race woke the Media up a bit. RB will probably keep their heads up you know where. But everyone else will think otherwise.

I can't imagine RB will change anything about their process or stance in the media. They are always going to work to make Max faster. They are likely at the point where more drivable would be faster over race distance. Maybe even in QP too.

That sounds a lot like Honda (MotoGP). Everyone knew the Honda was extremely hard to ride at a fast pace, but Honda held their belief that it was the riders not the bike.

If Red Bull continues this thought process, they will most likely end up where Williams was (dead last).

I have to agree with you. What Max wants isn't what works for others, and each year that gap will become greater, making it even harder for future people to come in and get decent results. In RB's mind, that means that Max is that much better than the other drivers, but I don't agree, it's just that they've gone too far over to what Max wants.

I think those other engineers came in and played politics against Newey, which is why he left, now they're in a put up or shut up position and can't deliver. But, RB has made it's bed, now they have to sleep in it.

RB lost Rob Marshall (Chief Designer) at the end of 2023. He went to McLaren and we know how that worked out.

If RB didn't have Max, IMO they'd be pretty close to last this year. But then they also wouldn't have the pressure to make such a knife-edge car. I'd guess that their engineers know how to make the car more drivable. They probably don't know how to do it without reducing the super sharp front end that Max loves.

Well let's not forget: team members receive bonus's for championships too. That means so long as they can keep Max happy and driving, they put money in the bank. Why look ahead too far? It's always about them bonuses.
