2025 Investment Thread

About DeepSeek? Doubt it, the average congressman doesn't have a clue about that kind of stuff

A Dec 31 sale is likely just freeing up money for other trades, or maybe to balance capital gains/losses

When NVDA rises, its percentage of VOO's market cap simply increases. VOO doesn't purchase more NVDA (unless of course investors buy more VOO).

You are right. I was wrong.

Hear how the % of a Capitalization-weighted indexes index works

Writing or buying? I'd assume writing for the likelihood, but the potential downside,,!
I bought. Speculative bet. I also heavily invest in ASTS, RCAT, RKLB, LUNR.

ASTS is a great buying opportunity right now. They can deliver on D2D unlike SpaceX

I let my financial advisor handle all my investments. I make 18 to 20 percent on the average.

I still have a mortgage but it’s less than 300,000 and it’s fixed for 30 years at 2.5 percent. The money I could have used to pay off my mortgage makes that 18 to 20 percent. I’m ahead of the game.

And I live entirely on my monthly SS. It pays my mortgage, food, all utilities, property taxes and I have leftover every month that I can use as I like.

They let us sneak by the pee tarp mentioning politicians when it relates to policy, but I think that probably changes when it turns to positive/negative commentary about them.

Anyway, I think not really. It would take a combination of things, one of which could involve policy. We mostly made it through a good chunk of inflation, so we probably have some inflation bandwidth from whatever trade wars, which always get negotiated once people start complaining. We're fat in tech right now, so more surprises like the DeepSeek stuff could take the wind out of it, which could then bring down markets as a whole. Average people are in much more control of markets these days and people are stupid, so I suspect meritless 1000x valuations will continue.

No recession fears with Trump's unpredictable behavior?

Meh, not really

I would just shift your domestic/foreign stock mix more towards domestic (due to the tariff wars etc.)

Small caps will probably do well, due to deregulation (buy VXF for that)

Add more crypto and gold, because I don't see him doing anything about inflation. Quite the opposite really.

And dip into the real estate, regional banks, and raw materials sectors if you want. For example KRE is a good play during this administration.

the thing is the market likes predictability over chaos but uncertainty presents opportunity but also risk.
If everyone sees the same chance and takes it and it turns bad then crash; if it turns out good then everyone makes a little profit.

Companies will be impacted by deregulation and trade wars, as long as they have the blessing of he who shall not be named they may be allowed to operate without interference.
Probably good to lay low for a bit and see how it shakes out
