I'm not opposed to non-traditional child names, but ABCDE strikes me as a shockingly lazy choice to name your child, regardless of how you would like others to pronounce it. I would have slightly more respect for the parents if they named their child 12345, but would expect the outcome to be equally sad.

I went to school with a lot of kids with non-traditional-American names; Czech, Italian, Polish, Irish, et cetera. I never gave it much thought, and didn't understand people who did.
