Adventure riding short rides and BS thread

Fun & scenic stuff on a .gpx track I had, labeled "Aurora loop".
The 2 track went for a while, and popped out behind Bodie.

Here's a few from my weekend. I was in the Bridgeport area, exploring similar roads.

Penon Blanco road, near Coulterville.

FANTASTIC pictures Eric!!! I always forget the name of Penon Blanco and lovingly refer to it as "Giggle Patch Rd." :laughig

Good stuff Eric!

I love these

Ok, because John asked for it..

Anytwowilldo and rebekahlynn asked me to go on a Labor Day ADV ride so of course I said hell yes...

Disclaimer - I poached some of Rebakah's pics for this (hers are the good ones)

They left it to me to choose a destination so I picked Bowman Lake area with a day trip to Downieville for lunch

Bowman

Bowman area

Daniel was running late so it was just the three of us.. Shortly before this pic was taken I fell over and my bike fell on Rebekah's bike... Broke her clutch lever...

I called this "you were taking a piss"

Rebekah looking stoked

Tom Getting it on the 990

We found a killer camping spot

It was near some running water for us to use in our water filter.

We used my new sick ass saw to make a bench for Rebekah and then cut the fire wood.

We tried to make CJ proud with a Category 2 fire

We deployed the AdjustaFork for some dindin..

But wait! There's more...

We rode to Downieville on the 90% Dirt route.

No Trip with Daniel on his 950 is complete without him working on a brake master cylinder... See Weaverville thread..

It was about 89 in the shade so Tom did his best CJ impression while I told Rebekah that it's ok, we got this.

We packed up our leftovers and headed back into the Forrest.

KTM's are kewl...

Someimes they fall in love with Huskies..

The ride out was super fun and pretty

Daniel packed out our trash cause you know.. Leave no trace

KTM Beauty shot

Parting shot of me by Rebekah..

Looks awesome Michael!

A quick overnight down south

The route: Redwood, Palomares, Calavaras, Uvas, Redwood Retreat, Mt.Madonna, 1, Old Coast, Los Burros, S. Coast Ridge, N/F road, Milpitas Rd, Carmel Valley, Chachagua, Laurel Grade, home.

Found the SS Minnow on Mt. Madonna

I hadn't planned on taking Old Coast, but there was flag man right there and the long view showed that there was a virtual freight train of cars for as far as the eye could see. Y'all have probably never seen this bridge before

Home for the night, Los Burros Rd, about 2 miles south of Prewitt Ridge:

I froze this beer the night before I left and packed it in the am, it worked! It wasn't cold, but it was cool.

Had to make sure for myself that Indians Rd was indeed closed, it is.

It's neat out there though, the geology is different

The sign said No Stopping, No Standing, No Swimming. I did two of the three and was tempted to do the third.

how you liking the DR ... you just got it this year? :ride

Hi John :wave

Yeah, I picked it up about 4 mos. ago and even though it's not a KLR, it's part of my effort to be more like you :teeth. I'm actually serious.

I'm digging it, I haven't had the opportunity to put a ton of miles on it, but I've taken it places that I would've been hesitant on other bikes I've owned, so for that reason alone, it's been golden.

was totally psyched when I saw you posting pics of a dual-sport I didn't recognize as one of your bikes ... DR650s are teh best, and I may have gone down that road (started my dual-sport career on a DR350), but the KLR is just easier to find ... plus, Kawasaki, ftw ... :laughing

your DR looks like it has the right tank/range ... :toothless

will have to get you to show me around down by Big Sur some time, or I'll be trying to do another big huge loop of Mendo NF summertime 2020 ... :thumbup:ride

I reckon you probably know the Big Sur area better than I do, I'm a newb! I'd love to follow your tracks in Mendo, well, as far as my skill will allow me, which probably wouldn't be that far:laughing. But I do have the range

Did a "Sheetiron" style ride last weekend, with a group from SBR. Staged at Fout Springs campground. Lots of fun.

Light rain/fog in the morning. The dirt was great through Stonyford & Middle Creek.
