Also likely splitting hairs, but "I don't see race" must mean "race does not matter to me" (unless the person is literally color blind). Now, does this mean the person treats all the same regardless of race, or does this person mean he/she believes race is no longer an issue?
I'm happy to say, with honesty, that while I obviously see and notice race, it does not matter in the slightest as far as how I treat the person. I find, more and more, that the reverse seems true (people don't treat me as an Asian, but as a human).
Good post J and agree with all of it. Growing up, I didn't see race as a difference with my cousins until someone pointed out race and made me understand why it should matter they were different. I was around 12 at the time and even then, it did not and does not matter. People make shitty comments about others having no clue what each other's racial experiences, connections, nor feelings are. It can be a heavy cudgel all around.
What I found most interesting is how we all communicate (or used to, rather) on all kinds of subjects without knowing what sex, nor race, nor age, each other are. The purity of race-less relationships are on full display on the internet with the cloak of anonymity.

I like the sound of that.
