bitcoins

How do you find out when a new coin will hit? I'm going to keep some funds in my CB account hoping the Poloniex will offer the Telegram ICO.

Dubs listen to whalepool on youtube. They have a live channel with people from around the world talking crypto along with other strange topics. Last night we were chatting about UFOs. Millionaires to common plebs like myself.

From their youtube channel you can join their Team Speak if you want to ask questions. Please keep your questions to the main room and not the trading room.

Visa puts a lid on using crypto backed CCs. link

This article is pretty much FUD. This is only one provider. I used my debit card 3 times today. The service I use was not affected. Dont buy into the fear people are attempting to spread. There are whole cities dedicated to crypto. http://ethereumworldnews.com/cryptocurrency-valley-time-swiss-town-next-tech-hub/
And the European Union planning for mass adoption. http://ethereumworldnews.com/european-union-plans-bitcoin-regulation-mass-adoption/
this technology is here to stay. These are just a few examples. The doubters of this tech will be left behind. For your kids sake (if you have any) you better start educating yourself.
Regulation is actually a good thing and will happen.

EU is planning to regulate, which is not the same as adopt.
No one is arguing that this technology is going to go away, and people posted multiple times now that they believe in one form or another it will stay. What people have been saying is that the current frenzy is FOMO not driven by fundamentals.

Fair enough. I agree. About 1450 of these 1500 or so cryptos will go bye bye and only the one that have proven use cases will survive.

Are you invested in crypto? I have seen you on this thread since I started chiming in. Nothing negative, I just can't read if you are pro crypto or anti.

I agree with this. It is the .com boom where most of these fly-by-night coins will die but the true tech/teams will prevail.

You should look into some of the tech behind some of the alt coins, it is really quite amazing the ideas they are trying to implement or have already started to implement.

Any particularly good one to look at ? I haven't had time to look at too many but the ones I did look at feels a lot like solutions featuring the keyword 'blockchain' technology looking for a problem and a pay day. Last one was Cardano couple days ago. Their first implementation was to store diplomas for easy verification. I guess databases are too 2017 ? Will people start printing out the hash to frame and hang in the wall of their office ?

check out Power Ledger

I'm not shilling these but these are cool ideas on the tech side of crypto. I believe some of the use cases being created will change the way we look at some of these companies and how people perceive the crypto currency space.

IOTA- Enables machine to machine micro transactions, quantum computer ready. Allows the internet of things to transact among itself.

VenChain- In the agricultural market for example you’d be able to verify what farm the meat you purchased came from, if its GMO free, if the animal was grass fed, if the product is certified organic, how long it took to get from supplier to grocer, etc. all thanks to the updated supply chain being readily available on the Blockchain.

VeChain would also be useful in the pharmaceutical market being able to verify that the substances in the drugs are authentic and where they came from. This would be valuable to both the retailer and the consumer for having reassurance that the product they are selling/buying is legitimate.

Gollum- computer resource sharing with the idea of creating a world wide super computer.

Sia Coin-The promise of Sia is a decentralized network of datacenters that, taken together, comprise the world’s fastest, cheapest, and most secure cloud storage platform

Enjin-Customizable cryptocurrency and virtual goods platform for gaming. Allows trading of goods on multiple game platforms.

Neither? I am interested in technology in the same way I am interested in DefCon or BlackHat talks. I like to learn about technology and curious where it will go.

Thnx for that list. I'll make sure to check it out soon. Some does seem pretty cool from your description.

Would be nice to get in on some of the alt dips while BTC is going up.

I am dumb and poor. This thread gives me hope and rage. What's a schmuck who works with his hands to do with his few schmekels to get to Lamborghini land?

It's funny to think about how rich I'd be if I'd only gotten into it when this thread opened. After about 6 weeks I've doubled my meager investment (if I were to cash out today) but, dang. 6 months would have made a big difference!

It does feel bubbly. I'm not fooling myself that this is my ticket to early retirement, or anything like that. If anything, it's a good learning tool for watching markets and just getting the hang of the mechanics of moving money around.

The bottom line is that crypto trading is very risky, but it has been paying off for many just like the stock market. The crypto markets are new and no one has real insight into what can or will happen. But from the technology that is being "produced" it looks like crypto will be looked at like the internet or computers in the early days and picking the right horse to bet on will net those holding in a big way.
The bottom line is that for every dollar that somebody has made, somebody has lost.

This isn't some magic money generating machine, there are going to be winners and losers, some bigger than others, but if there is, in fact, some whose trades get priority, they will be consistently the bigger winners and everybody else will have significantly lower chance of winning, especially in the long run.

As complex as it is, I suspect that very, very few people really know what factors are involved, that would make me very nervous if I was participating.

Just my :2cents

Seems like that's how it is for any new Big Thing. Those plugged into the inner workings and those actually working to build it up are going to have a leg up on all the outside observers.

Exactly. There are forums and discord channels publicly dedicated to pumping and dumping alt coins at calculated timings to generate panic and hype amongst the new 'day traders'. And it's working flawlessly.

Every decade something comes along to give people hope that easy money will fall into their lap. Why do you want to burst their American dream.

Sadly I think a lot of people are using Cryptocurrencies purely for that reason. They don't give a damn about the technology or the issues it's trying to solve - they're simply looking to cash in and fuck off.

Makes me grumpy :x
