bitcoins

there have been rumors of hacked ledgers where your coin is rerouted. Not sure the validity of it. I would rather go paper wallet before I went used Nano

Now that is true. That is why you buy direct from the retailer or an authorized dealer. Then wipe it once you get it. Most people won't go to that length to secure their funds. It really is a shame that this occurs. I dislike black hats!

Are any of you guys the same guys who recommended GoPro stock?

Buy it. They just got rid of their drone department and fired a ton of people. Buy now!

After the dust settles, I'll be keeping a close eye on the following:

ETH - Ethereum
ADA - Cardano
XEM - NEM
SC - Siacoin
VET - Vechain
AE - Aeternity
XAS - Asch

I still like the idea of XRM (Monero) just not sure it'll be adopted.

Volc thanks for sharing. Eth, ADA and SC seem to have bright futures. Really like the privacy token stuff. Can you give a brief description of the other coins? I can always check out the whitepaper but thought you may have something more to add.

Myself

TRX - Love the idea. Getting rid of iTunes and the like. We'll see if something happens.
XVG - Fomo'd in and here I am
REQ - Built on Eth and wants to be the next Paypal.
XLM - Jed from Ripple came over and has a nice track record. Same thing as Ripple except peer to peer and not bank to bank.
XRP - Jed helped set this in motion. Hoping the field test between Mexico/USA banks pays off. I'm a big believer in disruptive tech and this goes against everything crypto.

Have you had a chance to check out QSP?

Thanks for the list guys, will be watching those. I picked up some TRX last night and of course it dips today.

XLM and XRP were killing me today.

TON, that's they one I need to get into at the token level. Supposed to be huge. It's the Telegram messenger platform (I'm sure I'm butchering the explanation).

Anyone here mining ? I'm building a couple rigs and am having a hard time trying to find a good place for it that isn't a rip off ( ie colo ).

No, sorry I wasn't clear. I meant a physical location that can support the massive power draw from multiple mining rigs.

15AMP 120v circuit found in most houses would be able to only support 1 full rig before breaker goes. 20AMP is a bit better but running 2 full rig is still iffy on that if you factor in the 20% overhead for safety.

Colocations does provide the needed power but its expensive.

Why can’t you just plug each machine into a different circuit?

APPC has been having some nice gains. Scalped it 4 times successfully then got greedy going for a 5th, and got stuck in it high. Which negated my gains. Newbie mistake. I’m learning.

Once I get out I’ll likely go all in on XRP and ICX and hold.

Someone I know have 6 rigs at his house .. one running in each room including the kitchen. Not the situation I want to be in with 2 kids < 5. My house can have 3 rigs running max.

I feel you Triple. Scalped LTC and now underwater. I'll lose all my profit if I get out now. That's my mistake for not setting up a stop loss and then going to bed. Hodling for dear life. Please go back up LTC, I love you, really.....

Lesson learned. We all make mistakes.

I said I was done here, but I think I will post up again, limiting my posts to information providing, not opinion.

This is from an accountant I have used. Pretty good one.

Cryptocurrency Traders Owe Massive Taxes For 2017

January 9, 2018 | By: Robert A. Green, CPA

I consulted dozens of cryptocurrency (coin) traders on taxes in December and confirmed what the media has been reporting: Coin traders made fortunes in 2017. Now that the 2017 tax-filing season is underway, these traders should gather online tax reports if available, use a coin trade accounting program, and review the latest guidance on tax treatment...

If you invested in cryptocurrencies and sold, exchanged, or spent it in 2017, you have to report a capital gain or loss on each transaction, including coin-to-currency sales, coin-to-coin trades, and purchases of goods or services using a coin. Deduct coin fees and other expenses appropriately...

(New information on Section 1031 like-kind exchanges and chain-splits.)

Well etherium actually has usage model unlike Bitcoin

Go on....

Great info AMF. Thanks for sharing. Please don't feel like you shouldn't post in here. I actually look forward to reading your posts.

Daniel Winters in NJ is a great crypto tax guy. He is doing all my taxes this year. If anyone wants info please PM me.
