Riding BART for 3 weeks is good motivation to not ride BART

Thanks! :)

Your S1k looks so badass. :thumbup

It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. - Ferris

Chris, You already changed the turn signals? They look a little different from the website photos.

It's a 2015 with 15,500 miles when I bought it. The previous owner installed the turn signals, along with the HID headlights, exhaust, rear sets, seat cowl, levers, helibars:)wtf they don't seem different than oem). The extras preinstalled make up for the fact that he borked a few of the fairing tabs and left me with the 18,000 valve check. I just wished he had installed case covers, sliders, bar ends, etc.

That's a fuck-ton of miles for 2015.
Did that comma move? (as in typo)

Nope, 15,517 officially. He commuted between Concord and Alameda everyday, shift light comes on at 7.5k... the bike never went over 100mph...until the test ride:teeth all service done at WC BMW and the owner is well liked over there...too bad for them she won't ever be back in there for something other than warranty work:laughing

how in hell do you own a BMW S1000rr and never go over 100mph :wtf

yeah yeah I know that its illegal to ride at that speed on the public highway and blah blah bad boy go straight to hell do not pass go do not collect $200 but I am sure most of us have seen over a ton on our bikes... or maybe not??

I was :wtf when I heard that. He did do a track day, so I am really hoping he was referring to public roads. But still, right?! I haven't tried to break the limit but I have looked at the speedo a few times and been...surprised...the speed creeps...he must have used the cruise control a lot...

I have taken it up to ~140 on a closed course but I didn't feel comfortable going any faster without better conditions. Nothing to do with the bike, all to do with my self preservation instinct :laughing

My max on the FZ-09 was ~130 but the front had a wobble and the back had a weave, night and day difference between that and the s1000rr at speed. S1000RR 140mph feels like FZ-09 60mph

I can't wait to take it to the track, unfortunately it's looking to be 2017 before that will happen

15k doesn't seem like that much for a '15. I put that much on in 7 months on my F4i and would have done the same to the FJ had it not been for all the crashing and stuff. :| :laughing

I'm also more shocked at the "never been above 100mph" bit.

BTW, 130 on the FZ seems crazy! I had the FJ at 110 and it seemed pretty shaky already. I did get the WR up to close to 90 yesterday and that was far, far scarier than anything else (including 151 on my F4i). :later

I wasn't implying anything hinky due to the miles, it just got me wondering.

Yea the FZ is like a wild stallion you find running the plains where the S1000RR is a genetically modified thoroughbred :laughing

To be honest I was surprised at the miles as well, my 2015 FZ-09 had 6,500 when I traded it in. After realizing he took delivery in 2014 and rode it daily it made more sense to me :thumbup

So he had it for about 18 months.
Do you know what he got after that bike? Just curious.

He bought a 2016 Panigale 1299. I heard through the grapevine he might be lemon lawing it with Ace's help with all the trouble he has had with it. Said he wants the BMW back:laughing I said don't tell him where I live :rofl I ride by his house on my way home from work everyday and I'm worried he's going to jump me:teeth:ride:party

He has had the 1290 Duke -> S1000R -> S1000RR -> 1299 Pani in the past couple years

Bambam here on BARF has his old S1000R funnily enough

Pussied my way up to 145mph at T-hill. Bike was completely safe feeling, lofting the front through 120mph down the straight. But watching the world fly by was not comforting and my self preservation kicked in as well. I'm sure with more balls off of turn 15 I could have hit 165 with no drama.

Oh, got my '15 from CSS with 17K on the odo. She's now at 25.6K and no engine issues I'm aware of. 18K service had no valve adjustments needed. But for some reason the DDC won't calibrate, so I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take it back into WC BMW for warranty work on that. :(

I can't wait to get to THill :teeth but 165 down the straight sounds pretty freaking fast:cool

When you say it won't calibrate, are you following the procedure in the rider manual? Is the engine on? Upright? I haven't calibrated the DDC, but I don't know what would necessitate a calibration? :dunno

Eh, maybe I missed the engine running step? I don't think it has to be though. Just ignition on, on the sidestand, no load on the bike.

I had Jason Hauns at the Z2 trackday perform an initial set up. So he adjusted the preload a tiny bit and you're supposed to let the ecu know where the new ride height is by calibrating the rear shock's sensor again. Suspension worked all day though, never felt like it was broken or fighting me at all. I just tore my tires a bit so next time I'll pay for the all day tweaking and get some additional help on what to continue tweaking.

That was just from my memory of reading the manual a little before bed each night, I don't have it in front of me. Maybe it said the engine should be running during adjustment of damping since valves are electronic and it can wear down the battery. You are probably doing it the right way.

I looked it up on the forums and people have had success by having it on the sidestand, ignition on, if it says FAIL try moving the sensor with your hand, just a wiggle, then try it again.
