Concealed Carry Logic

+1 for this thread.

People need to realize that police are not always going to be right around the corner or that all the mugger wants is your wallet. I dont understand how people are against PROTECTING themselves. Yes, criminals use guns often, but do you think they follow laws? No, they dont care about a CCW permit, they just stick them in their pant line and hit the streets. In my own opinion RESPONSIBLE concealed carry would reduce crime.

VERY true...theres even a news report on youtube about this...they interviewed convicts about gun laws and they straight out dont care...they buy their stuff on the streets...why would it matter to them?

Ahh yes, the good old fashioned responsibility arguement. Who is going to determine who is responsible, You? Who determines who is good and bad? I think that's pretty presumptuous of someone, think they know better than God. You can protect yourself just fine with a taser gun, rubber bullets (those things hurt like HELL), or lots of other less-than-lethal weapons. I'm a big fan of ninja stars, but thats just me.

I can understand why people would want to own a firearm. I actually don't really have a problem with handguns. I mean I don't like guns in general, but the assault rifles, machine pistols, etc. that I really don't like. My girlfriend is maybe 5'5" and 110 pounds, no matter what martial art she learns, it's not gonna protect her from Kimbo Slice. If she wanted to own a pistol, then good for her, as long as she takes the proper safety courses.

I think we all need to look at the fact though, that crime has dropped steadily and drastically over the last 30 years, but that 39% (just below Zimbabwe) of all our homicides are committed with guns, and that our gun murder rate per capita alone is more than the entire murder rate of Slovenia. I can hardly think that anyone would look at that and sing the praises of all the "good things" guns have done in the U.S.

And my source was the CDC. Try to discredit me all you want, I'm sure the NRA website has lots and lots of fun statistics Charlton Heston went hand over fist up his ass to pull out.

So sure, guns in the wrong hands of individuals are a very bad thing. We do have a serious crime problem but is that the fault of guns? Lets look at Columbia, Columbia does not allow the private ownership of firearms but yet still has one of the highest murder rates in the world. But wait! Guns are illegal! Do you think criminals care about regulations on firearms? I mean honestly? do you think banning certain guns from legal purchasing stops individuals from obtaining them? What about our wonderful state of Kalifornia, oh we feel so safe and snug with all of our gun laws protecting us. The Brady Gun Control group rates California as #1 in terms of gun safety yet we still have one of the highest crime rates among states in the US. I urge you to reconsider your thoughts on our second amendment freedoms. I hope you wake up from your libtard spell and realize that crime in this nation is not a gun problem, but a more serious social problem.

Maybe we have the highest crime because we are the largest state with the largest spread of demographics, racially and socioeconomically. Virginia tech, columbine,the highway snipers in VA, the mall shootings, the church shootings (both of which just RECENTLY happened AGAIN) were ALL done by criminals, NOT law abiding citizens who carry. I'm glad I got my CCW, I carry my glock 40 with me EVERYWHERE, including rides,supermarket, CHURCH, MALLS, everywhere. I/my family will NOT be a fucking victim(hen) for the criminals (wolves) to pray on. If I'm at church, and someone starts shooting, best fucking believe I will be going for 2 in the chest and 1 in the head.

It's pretty much a lose-lose situation though, isn't it? If you do own a gun and you DO shoot an intruder, you end up getting sued by the guy who broke into your house.
 
If there were absolutely no guns in society, I'm sure we may not have as much gun crimes. Take away all the guns, from me to the gangs in Oakland, yes I'd feel safer, but that's not going to happen let's face it. The fact is there are guns, and a lot of them too. And we've had them since this country was founded. Normal folks used guns to create this country, without guns you, me, our dogs, everyone would not be living as free and fat and rich as we do today. Guns were used in the 1700's to escape from an oppressive regime, that's what got us here to where we are today, it takes a certain level of maturity and open mindedness to understand that. Look what happened to the American Indians, they didn't have too many guns and as brave as their Braves were, they got mowed down by the Howitzers (ok maybe not howitzers but you get the point).

I personally believe if a shall issue CCW policy was implemented in the areas of CA that don't believe in this, and it even saves 1 decent person's life who got shot dead on the street but had nothing to shoot back with, it will all be worth it. But the sheriffs that issue CCWs see it differently, CCWs CAN be issued in CA, but the jurisdiction is left up to the wrong people. Let it be decided when you DROS a firearm, let it be up to the feds who do the background check, not up to some egotistic, optimistic 46 inch waisted fella who wants noone to best him in preventing violent crime.

I believe, though I could be wrong, that all the firearms used in the crimes you listed were purchased legally. The crimes committed made them criminals.
