Console (Xbox Live/PSN) / PC - Online / Multiplayer Gaming

^^ :thumbup I was playing Bravo missions w/ my girl last night. Soo much fun hearing her scream as a dog is chasing her.

So far, I've found that the SCAR-L with a silencer, along w/ hardline is an awesome setup for TDM and anything other than Hardcore. I see my 2.0 ratio slowly returning :laughing

Oh, and if you play HD Ricochet SD ; equip your heartbeat monitor.

The first Charlie mission (the sniper one) is fucking insanely hard :laughing

People still buy games for the PC? :wtf

I think i'm on level 5 or 6. Pretty good so far, but not as awe-inspiring as the first one so far, most because I know what to expect as far as graphics go this time around. Excellent pace though. The action is non-stop.:thumbup

they didnt lose anything they were not already prepared to lose to pirates, wow those 220,000 people sure showed them didnt they:rofl
computer games are slowly going the way of cd's, dvd's, and bottled coke:x

They know exactly what they are doing, if your company was in charge of something that made it possible to play games on the pc yet at the same time you have a huge segment of your company working on a game console and developing games where would you put your money and time?:party

+2 to both of these.

Believe it or not, they didn't just impose these limitations to piss off their customers. There was a strategy involved, to target a certain market. Your 220,000 petitions and $7 million :rolleyes .. They sold over $300 million on the first day. Get a 360 and man up :twofinger

Activision claims that the company's recently released shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 brought in $310 million after its first day on sale. This number covers US and UK markets alone. Activision made the assessment internally, albeit if accurate it would count as "the biggest launch in entertainment history," surpassing the previous blockbuster game that holds most records in that department - Grand Theft Auto IV.

The publisher also made it clear that 4.7 million units were sold in the US and UK.

"The Call of Duty franchise has become a cultural phenomenon showing the power of video games as an entertainment medium," said Mike Griffith, CEO of Activision Publishing. "The shattering of these entertainment records is a testament to the compelling, cinematic and uniquely engaging experience that the Call of Duty brand delivers."

"Modern Warfare 2 has taken interactive experience to unprecedented heights setting a new standard for entertainment," he added.

Something tells me these numbers are going to get even bigger.

No thanks, the graphics on the PS3/Xbox 360 are utter shit. Jagged lines everywhere. The graphics card alone in a decent gaming PC costs more than a PS3 or Xbox 360, so obviously the PC is going to murder the consoles when it comes to quality. That, and a mouse is far superior to a gamepad for shooting games. I'll stick to MW1 for Multi and download MW2 for the singleplayer until Infinity Ward patches MW2 to bring back dedicated servers. 9v9 limit is weak.

Well 220,000+ unique emails signed a petition, lets say half of that to be an acurate number. Thats over 7.5 million of revenue lost, and lets say half of the 100,000 people download the solo mission through torrents. Sounds like a loss for them. People get single player for free, and less revenue for the company. :party

It is what it is.

Downloading the torrent now.

I'd be happy to pay for something they didn't callously fuck over. The torrent is a statement, not really trying to save 60 bucks (hahaha, 60 bucks for that POS!).

...and Microsoft can't ban my computer for dling it, either :twofinger

I can sit on the couch and play on my 52" LCD with surround sound.

I'll pass on PC gaming.

I'll pass on PC gaming.

...and you can do it with far lower graphical detail than PC gamers enjoy, who can also use 52 inch LCDs and surround sound.

PS, aiming with a joystick is the Special Olympics of gaming.

I'm enjoying the solo a little more, all the little gee-whiz things they threw at it. Unarmed rooftop flee was fun. Helicopter extraction was neat. Seeing D.C. in ruins made my day. Fightign in suburbia was fun.

I joined some friends in multiplayer and ended up playing against them on a map that was new to me. I went 0 and 14. Opposing team all knew each other and worked together. My team didn't speak a word all match.

We're drifting off topic, but i'll bite.

I do agree that PC graphics can be better, but only if you are willing to drop $300-$500 every year for the latest hardware. Sometimes its more than the graphics card that needs the update too. Top that off with a relentless stream of cheaters/hackers and the PC world really lost its edge in terms of gaming.

I do miss the keyboard/mouse approach on the PS3, but I don't miss the cheaters and I don't miss the graphics. The graphics are so good now that i really don't need much better.

To each their own, I suppose...but the numbers don't lie. PC gaming is being propped up by WOW. Other than that, its dying a slow painful death.

If there was a KB/mouse control for FPS games on console, I'd bite mostly because the hacker/cheats have ruined many PC based games over the years.

:rolleyes Believe what you will.... A GOOD gaming PC can be built around 400-700 depending on new parts or used and what kind of parts. And it can be fully enjoyed for at least 3 years minimum. Update parts every year my ass. I've saved more money playing my games on PC and all its glory and enjoying everything else about a computer which is fast and crazy performer in games/softwares/encoding/decoding than my friends who've added up costs/time with their numerous limitations/issues with the 360. Shoot I've even "converted" some of my fanboyish console friends to PC showing them that gaming can be just as cheap and even cheaper to play on in the long run and more fun/eye candy. Initial cost may be slightly higher on PC, but in the long run consoles are paying more for less. PC isn't just a gaming machine, it is a all-in-one device.

Games are cheaper/better controls/content, easier community integration, mods/skins/customized maps/customized anything. The possibilities are nearly endless. Plus you can listen/watch all movies/music in all shells/codecs of all sizes, surf the web, productivity softwares, basically all computer things alongside with gaming.

As for the gaming community dying down, you could never be more wrong. PC gaming is doing well and very much alive. Just look online for gaming communities by itself.

It is the media saying crap like that. Just like they said about PC gaming dying, they say the same for gaming piracy (it isn't as bad as ppl think). Sure the PC isn't doing as well in terms of numbers compared to consoles, but in no way is it dying.

Well alive my friend, you just hearing shit and regurgitating it to others. I mean how can PC gaming die, they are the leading edge in tech/hardware/content/media.... it makes no sense.

Christ not another "PC gaming is dead" BS argument. You people have been saying this for ten years and you're still wrong.

"You have to drop $500 every year."

Once your computer is faster than the console it's not going to get slower and the console isn't going to get faster.

"cheaters"

Funny, I've been playing online most days for years and I can remember the number of cheaters I've run across on two hands. They get banned quick by a DEDICATED SERVER ADMIN and the problem is solved.

"I don't need better graphics"

Good for you.

"being propped up by wow"

Yeah, being propped up by the largest entertainment property ever. I'm not sure what your point there is supposed to be. You think that they wouldn't make Fallout 3 and Batman and whatever for the PC if it weren't for all the people playing WOW? That makes zero sense. Then consider that the PC still has far more games available than any console and that everyone owns one anyway because it's actually useful for other things and sure...real dead.

:rolleyes

Thread is way off topic. Take the PC vs Console bullshit somewhere else. Keep it related to MW2.

Merging them all with the XBL live thread since all of them went completely off-topic.

great game, started off taking a beat, but now that I am learnng the maps my k/d ration is creeping back up. I was getting spanked when I didn't know where I was going.

Blew my mind when I checked the leaderboard and saw people had prestiged and played over 2 days so far last night

I bought the PC version. Be forewarned, as alot of people are having issues even trying to install the game among other technical glitches. I kept freezing trying to install disc 2 so instead Steam decided on it's own to download some shit into my PC for a good 7 hours before I was able to play it.

This will probably be the last product I buy from IW. Their QA team must be run by a bunch of monkeys.
