I have a 1980 Peugeot 505 with a 2.5 liter NA diesel four cylinder engine. The car probably weighs about 3400 pounds, and it has 70 horsepower. 0-60 is a bit over 30 seconds working the 4 speed box hard. On the plus side, it gets 32 MPG and I love how the engine is primitive and anti-social. If it's not belching a big stinky black cloud out of the tailpipe, it's belching a stinky blue cloud of blowby out of the crankcase breather.

I usually drive it on spare the air days.

We used to have V-16 2 stroke diesel gerators at work as backup power, I believe they about cubic inches per cylinder.
When those things would start you thought the world was ending with all that noise.

I left out the generators, pumps, and air compressors

Two of my favorite pieces of equipment are the Deutz powered pump and the Ingersal Rand towable compressor

Diesel Mini FTMFW :thumbup

I am quite fond of a well found engine room.
Think I'll give BOB a repaint this year.

I hear nothing but snores when I read anything about the CooperD.

The small hatch to have (that has any chance at being brought to the US) is the GTD. http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5529647&postcount=43

Mini's have earned a reputation for being cheap and tinny in build quality. I'll pass on it, thanks.

We're ditching the Ford so my next company vehicle will be a Sterling with an ISB. :D

I assume you're talking about the Sterling Bullet? I'm driving one now, great truck!! Too bad Sterling doesn't exist anymore, but hopefully Freightliner will adopt it's own version. Dodge dealers are a PIA to deal with.

I've been a big fan of Detroit S60s, but Cummins is the brand to beat these days. Here's some pics of trucks we've put together.

'07 WStar 4900SA, S60 515hp, 18spd w/ JerrDan 35ton boom and heavy duty underlift.

Sterling doesn't exist? Really? We just bought a whole new fleet from them. There's a Sterling dealer in Oakland. :dunno

And yes, a Bullet. :D

Similar to this one, but with an air-compressor and small crane installed as well. :thumbup

Yep, Daimler Truck Group (Freightliner) did away with the Sterling line earlier this year. We bought up all the '08 and '09s we could find when we found out.

You should have whoever buys your fleet to check us out next time or PM me where you work and who I should drop a card with and I'll get in touch with them.

My current task at work...
orig.jpg

a 1990 Cummins 'big cam' engine swap

A popped o-ring led to a seized 1980 big cam.

I had a 1990 F350 that ran on vegetable oil while I was in college. Not the most practical vehicle for commuting, though.
