Do You Mountain Bike?

Roxy, you mentioned something about going to the movies.

Your followup has been almost as spectacular as go-karting last weekend. :twofinger :laughing j/k

OK, so is that going to come through ? ? ?
If not, does anyone want to make it out to my crib in Lafayette for a DVD night tomorrow? (Friday 2/29) Maybe grab some munchies as well. :teeth

.

:twofinger

Everyone that responded said they were busy during the week....and YOU didn't even respond:|

Sheesh.....:laughing

:wtf

Movie and munchies?? Hmmmm....don't think we had anything planned for tomorrow evening -- other than taking care of our patient (puppy just had knee surgery).

Wait....did somone just say FREE and FOOD in the same sentence?:drool

Someone please describe the descents at Demo- I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into:)

Mike, I think if we get to 10-12+, split in two.

I don't really care about the demo ride. I'm not buying another $2000 bike anyway! :)

Free food is nice, plus the folks at THC are cool.

Not only did I repond twice to the pm but I also called on the phone and left a message. So there ! ! :twofinger :p

As far as FREE and FOOD, they were both related to the demo - day at Soquel/Demo on Sunday.

Re: DVD night at my house on Friday.
Anyone else interested.
Show of hands please so I can put some sort of plan together. :teeth

What time were you thinking of kicking things off? I'm off at 7 and Lisa gets off at 8. If it were on Saturday, we could probably make it - Friday looks like it'll be tough though.

Yea Mikey, that might be a little bit late and I have plans for Saturday. Believe it or not, I'm going to Tristen's (and her roomate's) house warming party. :wtf

Well, if there isn't enough interest maybe I'll try and put something together for next week or weekend.

Parking on Highland Way

I read that they get burglaries/vandalism every week out there...:wtf

They took place when the road was still open, and people parked right outside the main dirt lot. I've been following the threads on MTBR for a little bit - every theft I read about took place on a weekday. I haven't read of any burglaries on weekends, or anytime since the road closure.

Still, I'm not one to take chances - I'm taking my gear in a paper grocery bag, folding it and hiding it when I'm out. Don't want to leave a nice gearbag in sight, or anything that could be construed as valuable.

We have two choices if the road is closed:

1. Park on Highland by the closure
2. Drive an extra hour down to Soquel / Corralitos and come in from the other side

Ah, ok...

First choice.

Rox, you wanted info on Demo descents? Here it is:

Ridge: Mostly flowy singletrack with a couple of short climbs. Not very steep. A few wooden plank and log ramps exist. A couple of them (at the top of Tractor trail) are pretty big.

Sawpit: Steeper than Ridge, with one mega-rock garden. You need speed through the first part. Speed and bravery through the second part (where it gets steep). Robin - a gal I rode with a few years ago - went down on the first part, banged her elbow up and thought she got a light concussion out of it. Gregory, Joe, and Myself have all gone ass-over-teakettle on the second part. Several parts have wooden plank jumps built.

Braille: Also steeper than Ridge. Most of the built up stunts at Demo are built here. A log drop, teeter totter, and several launch ramps exist. This is where Joe messed up his shoulder pretty bad after coming off a jump wrong.

Corral: Lots of table tops and berms.

Most of the more difficult stunts @ Demo have "wimp out" detours. I take these on most of them :) The only one I can think of that requires a walk around / walk though for most people is the big rock garden on Sawpit.

Very nice...

Thanks Mike:)

Where do you guys shop for tires?

What kind of tires are you looking for?

I usually just do a Google Shopping search and check eBay. I know what tires I want - I just need to know the cheapest place I can get them.

Weirwolf 2.3 front (710g) and Mutano 2.24 rear (810g) on the AM bike. Mutano 2.4 front and rear (595g) on the XC bike. Extremely happy with both.
