Sorry, but I've seen that look before and that time I got left for dead. :cry

Can you get those in the US? I was thinking of getting a Specialized Deviant or a Giro Remedy just for Downieville - according to some posts on MTBR, those are the best breathing full-face MTB helmets available here.

Here are some more pics of the cratoni c-maniac. It doesn't look like the best protection, but I am willing to try it out to see if it's worthwhile. Worse comes to worse, I'll remove the faceplate and use it as a spare helmet. For the really gnarly stuff and for lift runs, I can always use one of my lighter MX lids. No negative reviews found so far on the C-Maniac. We do need four people to buy one (min. order $300), or pick up some parts from these people so we can get free shipping to the States. Mike, you still in? If so, we just need two more people. $80.00 each.

I'm dying to try out the new bikes, I haven't had a chance to ride since they were done. Anyone planning on riding this Saturday or Sunday afternoon? Can't ride in the am.
I'll tag along if you end up going somewhere. :teeth

Brutal ride....but it was still fun:)

Sawpit was cool. That rock garden wasn't bad at all.

The jumps on Corral was a blast!:ride

I should have taken that "wimp out" detour before my spectacular somersault....:laughing:wtf

Sounds good Steve :thumbup

Mikey:

Here are a couple of other options, but they're pricey. The Viper goes for around $200, and the parachute is $160

Viper:

Features:
• Produced in Monocoque plus™
• Inmold procedure for maximum protection at lightest weight.
• Adaption for headset included.
• Removable chin guard

Joe relishing in the memory of 21 year old....

ANYWAYS ya sonny, if someone backs out for bogg's im down for sure. I'll be checking in here for rides and stuff more often now. Next time i say we shoot for 10k' climbing ryan :thumbup Thats my goal by summer.

The Parachute at $160, honestly looks like a good option. As it gets warmer and warmer, that is looking very ventilated yet still will brace some impact if you hit something hard. I reckon if you hit a rock with the chin guard, it will shatter, but at least absorb the important part of the impact and thus preventing major damage.

Let me know what you figure out Bap. I definitely am in the market for a more "mtn" bike oriented helmet. A removable chin guard is a nice idea really.

After 3 weeks of not riding or running or SHIT, Demo was definitely a good way to jumpstart my regimen! That place was challenging as all hell, as it's got the steepest uphills and downhills of all the places I've seen. Annandel would be 2nd, with China camp 3rd.

Although I find china camp's freeride sections that are very clean and hardpacked to be very fun. Annadel's downhill to the parking lot around mid way was the best though. I can't wait to see Demo when it's cleaned up..

Ryan, if you want to do UCSC next, let's do it!

Mike, you still in? If so, we just need two more people. $80.00 each.

$80 isn't bad. Lemme know. I was doing ok wearing the full face "ghetto style" last weekend - I'm not sure how well that will work with the Cratoni.

You haven't tried Skeggs :)

If you're using the same definition of "Freeride" that everyone else does, this is China Camp's "Freeride" section (which is no longer around):

I believe what you're referring to is the frontside of China Camp, which is recognized as an XC / Cross Country trail.

Annadel's downhill to the parking lot around mid way was the best though.

Lawndale rocks :)

I can't wait to see Demo when it's cleaned up..

Just do the double loop w/ Corral and Braille next time :)

Who else is doing CCCX DH this weekend?:confused

I'm trying to talk the Super Jew into going too. If I go, I'll just do Sunday practice.
