Do You Mountain Bike?

Hey, I can testify that Cal's bike is probably in great shape. Probably brand new. You buy these things because they look good in the garage (pronounced with Wendy's accent "garr ij")
but you don't actually ride them, . . . do you?? :twofinger :laughing

Well dude, get yourself into some kind of shape and come ride with us on the new rig.

Unfortunately, that's true....its basically brand new.....I'll join you guys soon for sure.....getting my legs back together actually!!

Hey I'm headed to Demo tomorow with the Sheila Moon and Roaring Mouse MTB teams. The group I'm going with will be leaving the city between 9:30 and 10 am. Just in case anyones interested.

Me, my purple ribs, and Roxy. Z's took it's toll at UCSC, as did Mailbox. :(

No shit - a coil shock, chainguard, and a bash plate?

You gonna ride it like that or do you plan on making it a little more XC ish?

Wow Demo was a blast. Those climbs are rough especially tractor. Gonna come down that one next time. Our ride leader kept making Braile trail out to be this horrible downhill rollercoaster but I had less trouble on Braile than I did on Sawpit with those freakin 80% rock gardens. I saw nothing but pain at the bottom of those and realized that lacking the confidence and not wanting to repeat another Chaparelle (or was that cinderella) I had to walk that part. I breezed down Braille though. What a blast, over too soon. My knee is still acting up so the climbs were a bit much for me so I only got 2 runs in. I'm getting a little more confidant with the steeper sections so hopefully I'll be able to join you guys again soon.

Well, here it goes...

I am sobbing like a little girl as I type this. After yesterday's awesome ride at UCSC I gassed up and made the drive back to Walnut Creek. When I got home, I went to unload the Epic from the back of my truck, only one small problem, NO EPIC!

What? I had to ask myself, "there is supposed to be three thousand dollars worth of mountain bike in the back of my truck, right?" Yes, indeed there was. Instead, the only thing in the truck bed was a stank pair of cycling shoes and Ducky's Jack in the box from the night before.

:cry :cry :cry

So I think back.

Did I leave my truck parked anywhere? Nope.
Did I forget to tie it down? Nope
Did I hear any funny noises like a bike falling out of the truck? Nope.

WHAT THE FUCK@!!@#!@#!1

Anyway, I get back in the car and make the drive all the way back to Santa Cruz. I call CHP, no reports of extremely expensive bicycles in the road way. No sign of the bike on the side of the road. Nothing. She's gone.

Anyway, I'm posting here because I would really appreciate it if you guys would keep an eye out for a Red Specialized Epic Expert (size large). its stock except for blue chainring bolts and a front wheel with red spoke nipples.

I seriously doubt I'll get it back, but it cant hurt to look, and I can't afford to replace it.

Any ideas about what I can to look for it are welcome. I'm thinking about holding some kind of candle light vigil in the mean time...I'll post up the details for that asap...

:(

Wow. You carpooled with others to and from the Performance Bikes in Campbell, right? Did you drop anyone off on the way back and leave your bike there after unloading?

Where was the last place you saw it, and when was the last time you saw it there?

I drove solo. The last time I saw it was at the Vallero in Santa Cruz when I gassed up. I drove straight home, no stops (except at stoplights). I had drycleaning hanging in my rear window, so i couldn't really see it as I was driving.

My route was 17>880>237>680>exit south main street Walnut Creek. Arrive at Long's Drugs parking lot and notice it missing.

poop.

Our bikes are going to be locked up on long trips from now on:(

I'm sorry Ryan -I hope you get it back:cry

:shocker Oh. shiet!! Sorry to hear about that. I know feeling. I was coming back from UCSC for the summer. I took the wheels off bike to load in the car.. Didn't realized that i left the wheel set back at school until i got back to the city. It was a King hubset with Ti spokes and Mavic ceramic rims..
