Do You Mountain Bike?

Damn, I can't believe it, somebody must of swiped it at the gas station while you were in paying I bet.

I'd bet with the group of guys here that we can't find you something to ride in the mean time :thumbup

Well, here it goes...

I am sobbing like a little girl as I type this. After yesterday's awesome ride at UCSC I gassed up and made the drive back to Walnut Creek. When I got home, I went to unload the Epic from the back of my truck, only one small problem, NO EPIC!

What? I had to ask myself, "there is supposed to be three thousand dollars worth of mountain bike in the back of my truck, right?" Yes, indeed there was. Instead, the only thing in the truck bed was a stank pair of cycling shoes and Ducky's Jack in the box from the night before.

:cry :cry :cry

So I think back.

Did I leave my truck parked anywhere? Nope.
Did I forget to tie it down? Nope
Did I hear any funny noises like a bike falling out of the truck? Nope.

WHAT THE FUCK@!!@#!@#!1

Anyway, I get back in the car and make the drive all the way back to Santa Cruz. I call CHP, no reports of extremely expensive bicycles in the road way. No sign of the bike on the side of the road. Nothing. She's gone.

Anyway, I'm posting here because I would really appreciate it if you guys would keep an eye out for a Red Specialized Epic Expert (size large). its stock except for blue chainring bolts and a front wheel with red spoke nipples.

I seriously doubt I'll get it back, but it cant hurt to look, and I can't afford to replace it.

Any ideas about what I can to look for it are welcome. I'm thinking about holding some kind of candle light vigil in the mean time...I'll post up the details for that asap...

:(

WHAT THE FUCK. wow man, that blows big ones. you didnt forget it in everetts truck did you? (hey, just a thought). your welcome to my enduro SL when we ride again, ill just pedal the dh bike. Good luck man, im going to miss that rugged little beast. :flag

Duuuuuuuuuuude!!

That sux F@$#EN A$$ ! ! !

The only difference between you and I is that I not only knew where I lost my $3300 investment but I saw it happen and couldn't stop it. This last fall all of my flooring air and power tools rolled out the back of my van (in a rolling tool box) when something caused the back door to open going on 24 west at about 70 mph during rush hour. By the time I got back, not a trace. Gone forever. :wow :(

OK, I'm guessing that you probably don't have any kind of renters insurance but if you do, and you come up with the right story, you could probably get them to cover it. Just a thought

So sorry dude. I really do sympathize. I loose and break expensive shit more than anyone should be allowed to.

.

Ryan, fuck man. I know how supar anal you are about that shit when we go places too.

I'm guessing it was in the back when you filled up, and that you didn't leave it for a second, right?
I'm also guessing you didn't make any stops right?

Definitely post on Craigslist, RideSFO, etc. Someone might have found it. Also call the local PD's and call CHP again.

You know, I tied my bike down like a dumbshit before the drive home, and it fell over in the bed. Fortunately it didn't fall over the side and I have a light back there so I watched it. And those tie downs I have loop through the forks.

Will definitely keep an eye out man. Terrible timing too. :(

A photo tribute to Ryan's Epic.. :(

Happier times & with the other kids. :/

well I hope someone from mtbr found it and will do the right thing.

I absolutely believe it fell out, because it scares me to think how ballsy someone would have to be, to pull off that kind of hiest.

i've ridden next to that thing plenty of times, you know if you need something just ask. it truly is bad timing as, I know you were getting ready for some big mtn bike races.

posted links on CL, rideSFO, MTBR, MSDHW, various Tri Clubs, and a couple of Yahoo groups...*crossfingers* we find the Epic..

I'll be watching eBay as well.

Upcoming events

I put a short list together in an attempt to figure things out for the next couple of months:

March 22 (Saturday) - Lake Sonoma XC / CCCX DH @ Toro Park
March 30 (Sunday) - CCCX XC @ Fort Ord / Xterra REAL @ Folsom
April 6 (Sunday) - CCCX XC @ Toro Park
April 13 (Sunday) - CCCX DH @ Toro Park / Napa Dirt Classic XC
April 17-20 (Thu - Sun) - Sea Otter Classic @ Monterey

With the Wildflower triathlon approaching, it's probably best for me to hold back from DH stuff. I'd like to give that Xterra race a shot tho. Anyone else have any plans?

OK, someone (who has a size large bike)
Lend it to Ryan for the cccx dh race this Saturday. :thumbup :teeth

Just wouldn't be the same if you weren't out there shredding that course to bitz. :(

I'd gladly lend you my back-up bike but it's sized appropriately for small, bald midgets. :wtf

Isn't Ryan gonna be a Buttonwillow for the AFM race?

Have you ever done the Sea Otter before? The word I keep hearing is that it's no fun anymore cause the spread is so big that before any of the riders get sorted everyone is already jammed into nearly unpassable single track. I was gonna do this one too but kept hearing that theme. Plus it's exspensive compared to most other races.

Look into the Shasta Lemurian. I keep hearing good things about this race.

We'll probably just got to Sea Otter to check out the races, vendor booths, and skills clinics. I haven't heard too many good things about racing there either.

I've heard good things about the Shasta race as well - I just don't know if I can make that happen during an AFM weekend.

The Lake Sonoma XC races are cheap and sound fun, but they're on Saturdays - I know those are bad for both Lisa and you. Free food with a $20 entry tho!

I've dropped some weight and put a lot of miles in on the roadbike - I'd like to test myself with another XC race soon :)

That looks scurry.

Steve

Looks like fun to me

I am going to try to get a new ride by Sea Otter so I can hook up with you guys and gals

Unless someone has a spare large frame sitting around I have good parts but I need a new frame

Thanks :thumbup
