FINALLY - Lane Sharing is supported in CA

I like the article... Vid is cool too.

No clue.. Yup. That is why this is so great. Official words of let us do it.. pay a price for being a ass... And the basics on safety for the rider. So cool.

The morre cagers that know.. the more that will accept it. The safer it will be.

Win for us.

I'm pretty amused by the comments. Lots and lots of very butthurt cagers without a clue. :Popcorn

Jeez yeah, I hadn't read them, so frustrating. Some really idiotic posts. :rolleyes

Welcome to online posting free to the public... people feel safe behind their keyboard and say the most obnoxious things without engaging their brains!

My favorite is the guy who says "Those stupid motorcycle riders, every time I honk at them for lane splitting they give me the finger!" Really, dude? :laughing I would love to see that guy get cited for inappropriate use of the horn.

One reasonable person says that drivers should scan mirrors and move over slightly for riders, and in general, just mind your own driving.

A genius responds that this is stupid, because guy #1 is saying to mind your own business while also checking your mirrors. Such a contradiction! What an amazing intellect this second guy must be.

IDIOTS.

I think most will agree, but these comments are frustrating because they are representative. People ARE that clueless. I can't count the number of times I have been given the BARF salute for doing absolutely nothing offensive, just passing someone. People have tried to close the gaps as I approach, etc.

Oh well, I just need to keep in mind that I have an amazing motorcycle that I am blessed with, while these suckers fester in traffic.

MotoPeeps doing good things for moto peeps! Thanks!

Meh reminds me crap I read on BARF from time to time.

Let's talk about bicyclists in the twisties...

:later

At first I was a bit sad at seeing restrictions entering our little grey area, but it's better than having it outlawed! Thanks for all the hard work, everyone!

Good work, mate.

1)Travel at a speed that is no more than 10 MPH faster than other traffic – danger increases at higher speed differentials.

2)It is not advisable to lane split when traffic flow is at 30 mph or faster – danger increases as overall speed increases.

3)Typically, it is more desirable to split between the #1 and #2 lanes than between other lanes.

4)Consider the total environment in which you are splitting, including the width of the lanes, size of surrounding vehicles, as well as roadway, weather, and lighting conditions.
These will make many here cry.

Kudos Guys! I'll join the vast majority of appreciative riders.

For the detractors, please remember this effort was launched in part to counter a DMV plan to make lanesharing illegal. Siilversvs, Budman, and, I'm sure, others should be thanked for safeguarding this practice.

I notice that the term "lane splitting" is used rather than "lane sharing".

Does that mean that I won't get corrected on BARF if I use "splitting" rather than "sharing" in the future? :p

I noticed this myself. In the past, it has seemed like all the traffic authorities have (no disrespect intended) had their hands clamped firmly over their ears, going "LALALALA LANESPLITTING WHAT'S THAT, THERE'S ONLY LANE *SHARING* HERE LALALALA..."

Nice to see them on board with the colloquialism.
