Flat Track Racing Mega Thread - INCLUDES SPOILERS!

Watching the Experts Singles heats on Fanschoice.tv now. Wiles and Carver put on a great show.

Expert Main was good, could have been spectacular if Carver had stayed up. So fun to watch the experts. Makes me miss seeing those guys on singles at the Nationals.

Twins on the Mile tomorrow!

The Springfield Mile was excellent. The track was fantastic allowing a really wide line and multiple passes every lap. Everything that makes mile flat track great.

Great race. Fun to see the speed difference with the vintage racers running before the pros.

Close finish.

RE: ".....close finish....." Indian is so kickin' ass in AFT that's there's little else to say.....

ongoing speculation about other manufacturers' direct support in AFT sure wasn't quieted when I cornered Keith McCarty @ Sears Point's MA event -
after I touted increasing assistance to Sammy Halbert & his team [did it hard, twice], he eased outta the conversation with a reference to "something bigger" late this year

it struck me immediately that he meant a YamUSA- [or Graves-] developed race machine

today, I still wonder about what Keith meant -
with Slammin's recent string of non-podium results [including on non-Yamahas], mebbe it's supporting a different team [or teams] in '18.....?

so, when's this season's 'ship gonna be iced?

Williams Grove PA Half Mile tomorrow. Mees can clinch. Will he pull another half-mile disappearing act like at Calistoga and Black Hills? Or will Baker, Smith, Halbert and Briar Bauman keep him honest?

We knew your heart was always on the cushion. :rose

Congrats to Jared Mees for his #1 plate in '17.

Outstanding year against some tough competition

Very sad news about Barry Boone. The FT community has had more than its share of loss in the last year.

Barry was a regular contributor to the Flat Track thread on ADVrider always happy to share information, show his enthusiasm for the sport and everyone in it and make honest critiques about the state of racing. It won't be the same without him.

I was shocked to read it earlier today. :rip

wow - em Yurripeons sure have lotsa fun:

Harley XG-750 Street Rod Hooligans @ Euro Bike Week

".....Twenty Journalists from all over the world.....received a “crash course”.....by Italian Dirt Track specialist and “tutor” “Professor” Marco Belli.....

.....The public at European Bike Week could also book a “Dirt Track Seminar”, riding the very same bikes for a small fee of 75 € for a 2 hour “Riding School Experience”....."

Worm sighting!

Larry Pegram to fill in for Brad Baker on the Factory Indian FTR750 at the Lone Star Half Mile. Wonder if he'll wear that AARP patch on his FT leathers like he did on his road race leathers at Road America earlier this year?

So former supermoto great Johnny Lewis is racing the first customer Indian today and he's been fast in practice and qualifying today. He says the bike is as delivered; they didn't touch the engine or anything beyond gearing and suspension adjustments. Its going to be very interesting to see how his night goes.

Plenty of surprises tonight. The banked car ovals can be hit or miss but I enjoyed the races.

Starting to wonder if I can get down to Perris in two weeks for the finale. Hmmm...

AFT is hinting on their social media accounts that Toni Elias will race in the Twins class at the October 7th season finale on the half mile in Perris, CA.

Elias has done well at MM's Superprestigio and I saw him race at the U.S. Superprestigio in Las Vegas two years ago. He's good on a short track and he will probably do well on a half mile. I know the mechanic that worked with him in Las Vegas was impressed.

AFT just confirmed Elias is racing at Perris on single rather than a Twin. Still very tough on a short half mile. Two four lap practice sessions and two four lap qualifying sessions to get dialed in. He's going to have to be able to lap within a few tenths of the leaders to make the main.

you still wondering?

I am, as well - I have to be @ work 11am Sun, so was planning my usual LA plan:
Sat morn departure--->I-5 drive--->watch race--->return north

compared to LA proper, a trip to Perris means 60-90 minutes added each way,
so itz a very full day o'driving

I'm unwilling to go down alone - anyone wanna join in?

Thanks for the offer. Too much work so I can't get away.

Big money race on the cushion at Willow Springs today. A lot of pros are there.
