yo, busy day with all the 2- & 4-wheel Qs & this 2nd AFT race

thx for posting schedule deets

Schedule may be adjusted due to changeable weather conditions.

JD Beach is fast qualifier in the Twins class. Would love to see him win one but Mees is really dominant on these banked ovals.

remember when I discussed running into Yamaha's Keith McCarty
@ 2017 Sears Point MA event, & he'd said "something's coming soon"?

I'd speculated it was gonna be a built-up MT-07 for Sammy Halbert, but.....
mebbe these G&G folks are receiving 2018 help/parts from US Yamaha?

regardless - GO Jiggy Dogg !!

Remember we have another manufacturer in the mix this weekend. Lloyd Brothers have developed another Ducati FT platform. This time with the 821cc Monster engine with some support from Ducati North America for ten events during the 2018 season; Atlanta and most of the other appearances will be at Mile races. Salinas, California resident Stevie Bonsey is the rider. Hope Ducati sees fit to fund the rest of the entire season.

great news, the Bros are cool guys,
& they're committed enuf to fund new skins for SB80 -
the "support from Duc NA" part is key to helping LBR be regularly competitive

Rain out tonight at Atlanta.

Trying again tomorrow afternoon.

Not so sad have to leave for a dinner in a 1/2 hour. I would have missed the main events. The track was great until the rain.

Weather Delays Atlanta Short Track; Racing to Resume Tomorrow at 1:00pm

WOODSTOCK, Ga. (April 7, 2018) – A large storm system rolling through the Southeast has resulted in the delay of today’s Harley-Davidson Atlanta Short Track presented by Hellbender Harley-Davidson at Dixie Speedway. The thrilling conclusion to today’s event will take place tomorrow, Sunday, April 8 at 1:00pm. With heat races in the books, fans will be treated to an action-packed day of racing starting with Semi races and concluding with Main events for both classes.

Damn, that thing is trick. Hope AMA doesn't outlaw it for not looking 50 years old like they did with the Crosley Bros. championship-winning Kawasaki.

I don't remember reading here about this:

Springfield hosts AFT Production Twins support class

a new wrinkle to an old approach

".....will double the day’s racing action, adding excitement and drama.....

.....The class is designed around production-based, twin-cylinder machines with a displacement between 649-850cc. Eligible machines include BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha twin-cylinder street bike engines.....

.....Race-only engines from machines such as the Harley-Davidson XR750, Honda RS750 and Indian Scout FTR750 are not allowed
....."

KTM will run a factory-backed AFT Singles effort in 2019. Chris Fillmore will serve as both Road Racing and Flat Track racing manager for KTM. The press release makes a vague reference to the 790 Duke competing in the Twins class with emphasis on vague. No rider(s) mentioned yet but that has got to be a pretty desirable seat. Further proof of the Singles class evolving beyond a stepping stone to Twins.

For 2019, KTM will field a race team to compete in the AFT Singles Class aboard the championship-proven 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. The future is poised to bring even more excitement in the AFT Twins class with the upcoming 2019 KTM 790 DUKE.

Chris Fillmore: “It’s pretty exciting to work on this new project to go racing in the American Flat Track Championship. We have the full support of KTM’s global motorsports team with Pit Beirer, Roger DeCoster, Ian Harrison and the Austrian R&D department, which provides a wealth of knowledge and experience behind us. Our goal is to use 2019 as a building year to create our structure and race team in the AFT Singles Class and the 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION is a championship-proven race bike and the perfect platform for KTM to engage with the new American Flat Track series. We’re well aware that KTM’s new 790 DUKE has the perfect power plant to compete in the AFT Twins class and we’re excited to see what the future brings in this new journey.”

I'm happy to keep this in my garage (or living room or bedroom) until next year if the KTM race shop is short on space.

Not again. I would think Mees and Tolbert would have learned their lesson after narrowly getting away with tire doping in 2016.

I don't see where he won't be racing at Texas. The links just say he was DQ'd from results of the Atlanta race.

Going to be a long night. Hate to see the ambulance on the track this many times.

local journeyman Chad Cose #49, The California Kid,
snags his 1st career podium with a 3rd on an Injun !!
