Flight Attendants

Oh screw it, i'm with 954 on this one. Fatties have no place as flight attendants and should absolutely have to buy two seats as passengers if they can't keep the lard outta their neighbors space. Come to think of it, they should be taxed more for needing more space, more air and for putting more methane into the atmosphere.

Mr.. Byke, If you were to look at the "denigration of women" aspect of the definition. It is reasonable to apply the definition of misogyny to this discussion as a whole.

I am a 1K United flier and do not encounter the same issues as the OP. If you want a new and clean plane with thin stewardess fly Singapore Airlines or charter a private flight.

Key words there that should be used across the board. Degeneration of women...as a whole, not just one, or two, or even a thousand. The fact that he's referencing the women of one specific region and one specific employment type, and not the women of all regions regardless of employment, would indicate that his complaint is not specifically with women. His complaint contains three elements: America, flight attendants, and women. People are too quick to be selectively offended and throw labels around. In order to use the word misogyny, there needs to be a common denominator...women...and we don't have that here. Might as well ask him why he hates America.

A Union is a business; their job is to collect dues, that is how they make money. If they can make money when the jobs are going away they will to that to.

Example: Hershey's Chocolate. When they closed the plant in Oakdale the Teamsters Union did not try to save the jobs. They took the $$$ from the company and just went along as all the jobs went to Monterey Mexico. You would have though that the Teamsters would have let everyone know that ALL Hershey's Chocolate is now made in Mexico? But no they took the $$$ and did not say a thing. Most people still think Hershey's is still the "Great American Chocolate Bar". Notice how they don't use that slogan anymore.

The rbyire POINT of a union is for workers to combine their power to increase their pay/benefits/working environment. Making things better for workers is why they exist

My Mom did 43 years as a flight attendant for United.

Flight attendants will Always do good for you if you are polite and not "demanding what I paid for!"

Seems that concept is lost on some people...

yeah it's tough to know what to make out of this top post.

I can't say that I'm not suspecting that some FAs inside the USA are not very polite or helpful.

But I can't say I'm not suspecting that there might have been something in 954's positioning (bicep out?!?) or the way he asked them things that seemed strange to them, either.
I am not sure how exactly there's "more space" if you take the isle seat.. maybe to you, but I know damn well that these people (the FAs I mean) will bump you all the time, so that space is useless to me

Combine that with their (probably well-honed) read that this dude was a sex tourist coming back from banging a lot of Thai prostitutes, and you have a full explanation for the disdain. :laughing

I don't fly United or American unless absolutely necessary, and never for international travel. The flight attendants are rude, grumpy, and overall provide really bad customer service. You don't have to spread out into the aisle, your still going to get brushed up against, or hit by the flight attendants as they make their rounds and they won't apologize or care one bit, unless your in business/first class.

That said however, I do sympathize with them. They've seen their careers reduced to the equivalent of herding cattle, and the corresponding wage and benefit concessions they've had to make over the years. It's not what they expected when they chose this as their career.
