Harley Davidson to release an Electric Motorcycle

JFC, no, the Tesla isn't a hybrid.

For those who want to hear the noise - it's not quite tie fighter, but it's close. This one of their racebikes has the same controller, same batteries, and same motor as the street bike, and sounds basically exactly like it:

Also :laughing at buying a motorcycle that "won't leave you stranded", as if gas bikes are infallible machines that never break.

OK...Then, people buy a car that is battery only...What a hoot :rofl

My motorcycles don't leave me stranded..and.. this covers 60 years of not stranded. But, that also includes knowing how to take care of machinery, both maintenance, and preventative maintenance.

Your (and most likely shorter) experience will differ, be as bad as you make it.

Right because machines never fail, regardless of proper maintenance. Ever.

Sometimes it is best to simply sit back and listen when one has no clue whatsoever about the subject of discussion. It is awfully hard to listen and talk at the same time. I know it is too much to ask, but a fellow can dream, right?

lou facts: his motorcycles never break down, ever.

:thumbup Thank You :thumbup

Another little item..Tesla, is a hybrid, isn't it? That is a car with a small gas engine that does two things, moves (as much as it can) the car, and runs a generator that charges the big battery in the car, that runs a (on demand) Electric motor, that combines, and assists the gas engine...And keeps you going.

Any Motorcycles that do this? Not holding my breath, till I hear of one.
And not buying a motorcycle that will leave ya stranded, either.

I'm battery everywhere. My power tools are all battery, and those tools include Lawn mower, chain saw,
pole saw (small chainsaw on long pole for tree limbs), weed eater, And...not being on the power grid, bank of batteries that store the excess from the solar panels day, for powering my home made motorhome/motorcycle shop,garage..
into the night.

Cool:thumbup I'm assuming you're talking about your battery powered pacemaker too.:)

Alright kids, here's some photos of the debut demo day in NY. I was there on work and got to check the bike out. Unfortunately they didn't have a slot available for me to ride. I did get to sit on one, and they had one inside on rollers that I got to "ride" and experience the awesome sound it made when turning that rear tire. Sorry, I don't have a Youtube channel to host the video. If someone else wants to host it and put it up, PM me and I'll email you the video.

My impression of the ergonomics are that they are spot on. It feels like you are sitting on a more compact Buell 1125CR or a Yamaha FZ-09 (in terms of the angles of your joints). Remarkably low center of gravity, and overall good looking (except for those god awful turn signals and mirrors). The build quality (especially for a prototype) felt solid. It had excellent fit and finish. H-D really showed off what they are capable of with this one. The H-D reps told me not to believe ANYTHING the internet is saying right now. They stated that there is absolutely NO plan for production. This is just to get some media attention and gauge market interest.

ENJOY THE PICS!

This last picture is of the toilet at HD in NYC. In my entire life I have never seen a black toilet, and figured I would share this with you.

Thar, I dun fixed it fer ya. :laughing

Daniel, thanks for the pics and descriptions. Very cool that you were able to throw a leg over it. If this thing does ever happen, I would be very excited. Perhaps it is a sign that H-D have finally decided that innovation is important. I sure hope so.

Banjoboy: :laughing Pretty much.

Keepin the Harley look while going electric. I think they have done a fantastic job. Would love to see a marriage with Tesla when they open a US battery R&D/manufacturing facility.

I'm liking it.:thumbup

PS, I'm a contractor and I have installed black toilets and bathtubs.:p

My dad had a black toilet in his "shop bathroom." Black toilet + hard water = :green

The white hard water spots on a black toilet are better than what you'd see decorating the bowl on a white toilet in a shop bathroom.

Ask me how I know.

Well, this thread has gone straight into the shitter if you ask me...

I forget, does dry 'Mel Brooks' humor have a place here?

Mel Brooks humor has a place EVERYWHERE*, Daniel. EVERYWHERE.

*Based on experience, my wife might beg to differ on this point.

the silence of the thing is totally weird. Sometimes I think you'd put a "cow-bell" or similar noise maker on it for in-town use? :laughing

Now, get the price down reasonable, make it go ~350-500 mile range before charging, & I'd be very interested. I don't want to give oil companies :twofinger one more red cent for gas, ever!

Actually, it's not very quiet at all. I have videos of the thing and it actually makes a nice racket (I'm working to get them uploaded). About the noise level you would get from a CBR250R. It's just very subdued and gets easily drowned out by ambient noise due to the high pitch.

Riding the Zero electric up on Skyline in Oakland I almost collected a bicyclist. He decided to make a U turn and didn't hear anything coming. :laughing
