Harley Davidson to release an Electric Motorcycle

Not sure about legality, but it becomes a moot point when nobody even knows that you are there. :thumbup

It really has to be a battery that is already out there, sold in volume.

Then a customer can buy it at Auto supply stores as a deep draw lithium Ion marine battery ...From a company that will be making that battery for the other market...not relying on the Harley market.

Or some variation of that scenario.

Not gonna happen.

It may be built by a supplier who builds them for other e-bike manufacturers, but there's no way you'll be able to buy a replacement at the local auto supply.

That south park episode may as well have been a documentary about how the general public feels about harley riders. :laughing

Most people think motorcyclists of any type are idiots.

You mean I can't strap a couple duralasts down in some hard bags and run some power cables to the main battery?:(

Oh Lou. Sweet, sweet Lou. Hell, why not make them solar powered while we're at it? :thumbup

I can almost guarantee, that your right....

Manufactures have a history of being raging idiots...:rofl I was spelling out a smart way to do it..In the customers View.

Excellent point. H-D has a rich racing history, having logged countless wins in Harley-only race classes. :teeth

That's unfair, Harley let other brands race...until they won. Then they would re-write the rules: Only American V-twins with Siamese intakes and push rod motors with black and orange decals....

You can hang out at 4 corners for awhile if you wanna see the sportbike guys who belong to that catagory.

Yep, no shortage of straight pipe gixxer morons...but of course we're not here defending them. ; )

Telsa is selling expensive cars as fast as they can build them with a bespoke battery...

Interesting. I'll be waiting for a Dual Sport at least electric, full on dirtbike even better.

Both already exist. Well, the Zero FX is a legit dualsport, but lacks range and has questionable suspension. The Zero MX is no longer produced, but was designed to be OHV only. Honestly, I would have purchased the FX that I test rode earlier this year, were it not for the fact that it is around $14K out the door. :wow

Could be, it's because I know so little about the Tesla car...But...
What that has to do with motorcycles..Escapes me...

Pretty sure the battery in the Tesla...Is a biggie.

Brammo has shared tech development with the Tesla folks (I don't recall how much they work together these days) - they use wafer like batteries that can be assembled in many different ways.

Hopefully, someone that knows something, can chime in on this...

This battery issue is vital, in So many ways.

I've test ridden two electric motos, and my opinion has changed considerably. They can be pretty cool and fun to ride.

I've test ridden two, and the last one was a head to head with a Street Triple.

Now I really want a Street Triple LOL

Because they aren't following the business model you suggested, and the battery needed to provide a motorcycle with high power and long range in a compact size is very different than marine or auto batteries.

Actually, Tesla uses old-tech, completely off-the-shelf Panasonic batteries that are identical to the ones you put in rechargeable LED flashlights. Here is the exact product that goes into a Tesla battery:

I know Elon Musk has a cult around him, but sometimes it helps to cut through the bullshit.

Ahh the only people I know of, that Don't consider Harley riders, to be knuckle dragging idiots..are other Harley riders. :laughing

How do I get on your ignor list?:dunno
