Lightning Electric Motorcycles

How can you tell did you look at the connector?

Hey this article is a great find! I am intrigued by this photo in particular:

That's a standard J1772 inlet, not CCS or anything special. What's really interesting is that if you zoom in on the open house pictures from last month is it wasn't there. No wonder they didn't have any demo rides; they probably had no way to charge the bike. And now it's just sort of half-assed hacked onto the plate next to the motor.

Well that's not even a connector at all it's some kind of cover for something. But what's so surprising it doesn't have DC Fastcharge? At the open house Richard said that DC Fastcharge is an option, I guess the owner didn't want it.

That could be a CHADEMO port for all we know.

We're disappointed this release isn't a production line spitting out the top-of-the-line Carbon Edition 20 kWh. I wanted one. But it looks like the 20 kWh Energica will be out first, so I'll just put up with 617 lbs of it.

Come on, man. Yeah, it's a cover, for a charging port. I mean, it's got freakin' visible part numbers, man.

Some of y'all electo-zealots (or advocates as you may prefer) are awful forgiving here—the Strike, when announced, was supposed to have "35 minute DC charging." There was no mention of "optional" at the time.

I think i've been fairly critical over the lightning. I actually didn't think they would actually release any of their production bikes. I thought this company was gonna be the next delorean, I guess there is still time for a coke deal.

Not having CCS is a no go for me. I don't know why it would be an option, I don't recall it being an option when they used to have the specs on the page for all the different models. My memory might be fuzzy but I remember the specs not quite making sense when I read them.

Well that was my question at the open house and that's what he told me. Not everyone has a use for DC fastcharging depending on how you intend to use the bike. But yeah details on the bike are still sketchy at this point, it still looks very much like a build to order bike at this point like a certain Tesla motors. If I was going to buy an emoto right now Energica for me. If only there were a way to add DC fastcharging to my Empulse =(

There is a lot of vaporware with EVs. IMO, the 20KWH battery is just more vaporware until we can buy it.

And it seems to me that Lighting makes vaporware bikes. Does anybody really own one?

Energica is run by an Italian woman, so of course you put the bike on a scale and it reads 645 lbs. :wow
Is that a 2019 model? Doesn't the 2019 model have a reverse and slow forward (1.75 MPG at WOT) as does my 2020 SS9?

If so, why is that guy pushing the bike around?

I find it strange that a self-styled electric bike expert such as yourself is unaware that press has ridden various Lightning models.

I don't have Moto Journalist powers I'm a Youtuber I do what I got with what the general public has. People want to see that this isn't vaporware and you can actually get one and no one in the public can get their hands on this. I've been able to demoride what the public has access to. I mean I got my hands on a Chinese electric dirt bike, you can look up Sur Ron and there are many owners and videos on the internet but you don't see so much of the Strike.

Also I have seen the bike I've just never seen it actually function.

You don't need "motojournalist powers" to avoid making nonsensical claims, although a lack of facts or meaningful perspective has never slowed you down. That's not surprising for someone who actually types the words "I'm a YouTuber," of course.

Bonus points for trying to equate your bargain-basement junk "motorcycle" with real electric motorcycles, even if the bike in question here is late to market.

The point: journalists have ridden Lightnings, even if you're not aware of it, Mr. YouTuber.

On several forums I have seen posts that say since Lightning motorcycles are not on FooTube, they don't exist.

I think the creators of these posts are ignorant, and foolish for publishing their ignorance.

But hey, you can put anything on the internet.

I laugh.

Nonsenical claims? Foolish? Really?

Please, link me to an article by a "moto journalist" that rode a production carbon Strike. Go ahead. We're waiting.
