Looking of a .22lr rifle - Suggestions?

This thread makes me miss my CZ Lux 452 terribly. Wish I'd never sold it.

Actually, I sold it twice and bought it back. Sold it again and I've got no record of the dude I sold it to, completely forgot.

Fuck, what a stellar gun that was. I'll own another some day.

Why you all say 22lr hard to find?

I bought 2 boxes at a Santa Rosa gun shop a couple of days ago, along with some nice 12 gauge slugs.
It's not hard to find, it's just a lot more expensive than it used to be.

What does it go for these days?

I remember 500 rounds at walmart for $11-$12.

Yesterday my local shop had twelve 50-round boxes in stock, that was it. Today, zero...

I paid a bit over $8 for 100 rounds, a far cry from buying cheap bricks of .22 in the 80s.

The Stevens Creek one had the MP5 lookalike on the shelf when I was there a few weeks ago, looks pretty cool and this one had what looked like the sliding stock-is that legal for rimfires here or was the stock actually locked? might've had the arx but the M4 lookalikes don't grab my attention so I didn't note it.

they sure didn't have anything to feed 'em with 15 minutes after the store opened :(

Marlin 795, cheap and accurate. I'll be starting my youngest on it.

Of course, never too early to get them comfortable with an AR platform :party

Hell, I don't know. I didn't pay attention.
Between the Box of slugs and 2 boxes of CCI Stingers, I paid $31.50, so probably way too fucking much.

I didn't say they were cheap, I said they were available. :teeth

got mine, Thanks Joe :)

Anytime Steve :)

I should have come back and updated the link, but I'll do it now. This link will put ALL of the .22 ammo they sell in your cart...don't worry, just hit checkout and you'll notice it takes everything that wasn't in stock out (vast majority of it)...leaving you with a 100 pack of winchesters, a 1,000 pack of M22 (winchester) and MAYBE the CCI Blazer 500 packs...those come and go. Either way, not a bad deal.

Those GSG MP-5 look alikes are supposed to be tits if you get the right (not plastic) model. I've been considering one.

the cabela's link shows things in stock that are out of stock when you click on them. Boo for false hopes

and no way to place a backorder. :(

I thought all the GSG's were plastic? Even their STG-44

yeah, their website is a little strange... you find out the status when you go to purchase. My shopping cart had the correct status, as confirmed in an email sent today (which lists shipping status)

I didn't see the option "let me know when this comes available" anymore. either. So no placing an order and awaiting backorder status either it seems

So apparently some models have a stamped steel receiver case, but I can't tell which one because the site is in German. I'm leaning towards a Henry Lever action still myself.

I'm not a big fan lever action in 22s because of the need to remove a spring loaded rod, then fill the tube, then add the rod back and lock it.

Upside is you can use .22 shorts, if you want pellet gun power.

Henry keeps that up in their larger bore rifles while Marlin lets you top off from the side when you need one.

Not sure if anyone makes a single load capable 22LR tho. I already have the wife's century old pump action if I wanna play cowboy or carnival :)
